CME on Leprosy – IADVL Karnataka

• State level CME ON LEPROSY, 24th Jan. 2014 in RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital, Bangalore.

Sir / Madam,

Leprosy still continues to be a major problem in India due to the continued transmission of the disease, potential risk of developing disabilities and deformities, with devastating social and economic consequences.

Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) KARNATAKA branch will be organizing World Leprosy Day throughout Karnataka on 30thJanuary, 2014 with an objective to create awareness on myths associated with Leprosy amongst public and to have updates on management and rehabilitation methods associated with Leprosy.

As a part of this occasion, State Level CME on Leprosy will be organized by RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital on 24th Jan. 2014, under the banner of IADVL Karnataka, Bangalore Dermatological Society (BDS) and Directorate of Family Health and Welfare, Leprosy division, Govt. of Karnataka.

We invite you to transform the lives of some of the world’s poorest and most marginalized people. This special day will raise awareness of Leprosy as a 21st century disease.

Some of our objectives include: IADVL Karnataka has decided to organize World Leprosy Day on 30th January every year all over Karnataka to create an awareness among medical, para medical and public on Leprosy which is one of the ignored disease; to overcome stigma associated with it in the society; to share the views of experienced on care of patients after cure; and to update knowledge on leprosy among dermatologists.

Brochures and banners will be circulated throughout the state in select centres for display for public education and free leprosy camps will be held in selected centres in Karnataka from 25th to 30th Janaury 2014 for early detection of new cases, treating, and thus avoiding deformities. Press media is requested to participate by publishing interview talks and press release of articles on leprosy.

Director of Health and Family Welfare (Leprosy division), Govt of Karnataka has assured us on their active participate in our efforts. We have been assured of free supply of Care kits to leprosy patients, teaching materials, and holding seminars.

The highlights of the program:

1. Distribution of brochures and display of banners in Kannada and English to create public awareness.
2. STATE LEVEL CME ON LEPROSY

Time: 8.30 am – 5 pm
Venue: Auditorium, RajaRajeswari Medical College, Kambipura, Mysore
Road, Bangalore.
Eminent speakers from other parts of India will share their views and discuss the advances in the field of Leprosy care.
We are expecting around 250-300 dermatologists from all over Karnataka to Participate
