Eye Donation Fortnight

Department of Ophthalmology has organized an ‘Eye Donation Fortnight ………

Eye donation fortnight awareness program was conducted from 25th August 2021 to 8th Sep 2021 by RRMCH, Bangalore. Many cultural events were organized on 2ndand 3rd Sep 2021 such as face painting, creative writing, poster making, quiz & dumb charades. This was done to create awareness on the important of donation of sight. An outreach event was also organized at the PHC , Sulikere on 2nd Sep, the Dept of Ophthalmology along with 3rd year MBBS students and Interns spread the word on the benefits of eye donation in the form of a play. The plays and speeches were not only beautifully entertaining but powerful in their message to all the local people participated there.

On 8th September, which was the last day of the fortnight, a grand event was conducted at Kadamba Hall (College Auditorium) in RRMCH between 10.00am to 1.00pm. Dr.Kaushal Kumar, HOD & prof, Dept of Ophthalmology gave the welcome speech and gave awarm invite to all for the program. After the lamp lighting by the dignitaries and invoking the blessings of lord Ganesha with a song by Dr. Sushmitha Samak, an interpretive Bharathnatyam Performance was done by Malathi. A melodious violin duo by Dr. Rahul & Dr. Keerthi set the tone for the rest of the program.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Roopashree Mathada, Prabha Eye Clinic gave an educational speech on eye donation and different techniques of corneal transplantation. This was followed by energetic dance performances and prize distribution for all the events that were conducted. At the end of the program a whimsical fashion show was put on by the Ophthalmology Post Graduates, depicting the monstrous ocular conditions that can be treated by eye donation. It was concluded by a vote of thanks encouraging people to pledge their eyes & Lunch.
