Two health professionals from India visited the Civil Contingencies Unit today and received a presentation on how Civil Contingencies work is undertaken in Staffordshire.
Dr Shashikala Manjunatha (Professor and Head) and Dr Vidya Srividya (Assistant Professor) of the Department of Community Medicine at Rajarajeshwari Medical College, Banglahore India accompanied by John Dyer from the HPA were welcomed to the CCU by Andy Marshall and members of the team. Both are currently visiting the Health Protection Agency (West Midlands area) and as part of their time here they asked to see examples of civil protection work.
They received presentations from Mel Page, Peter Taylor and Marie Dale and were shown the CCU’s Mobile Command Unit.
Peter Taylor said “We were delighted to be asked to show two senior health professionals from an other country around and to explain the work that the CCU undertakes on behalf of the Staffordshire partnership. They asked many questions and hopefully we were able to cover everything they wanted to find out.”
The two doctors were then due back in Birmingham ready for the next stage of their tour.
