World No-Tobacco Day

Department of ENT-HNS, RRMCH combined with the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, RRMCH observed “WORLD NO TOBBACCO DAY” on 31st May 2022.

On 30th May 2022, in view of creating awareness among the young generation as well as the older group, the departments had conducted a poster presentation competition for the Under Graduates, Post Graduates and Para Medical students at the College Lobby. All the students participated with immense interest and had presented the posters, explaining the same as well. Their posters were evaluated by the judges – Dr. Archana B, Prof and HOD, Dept of Pulmonary Medicine, RRMCH, Dr. Mamatha, Prof, Dept of General Medicine and Dr Shashikala, Prof and HOD, Dept of Community Medicine, RRMCH. Dr. Vivek. G., Deputy Medical Superintendent, RRMCH interacted with the media coverage done by ‘News18’ channel.

On 31st May 2022, the program was conducted at the college auditorium – Kadamba Hall. The members present were Dr. B Sathyamurthy, Dean, Dr Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Dr Basavaraj Bandare, Vice principal – Examination), Dr Vivek.G, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Sri.C.N.Seetharam, CEO, RRGI and Dr.T.M. Nagaraj, Prof & HOD, Dept of ENT HNS. The program commenced with the lamp lighting and a welcome speech by Dr. Ibrahim Ayub, final year PG, followed by an awareness speech by Dr. T. M. Nagaraj (Prof & HOD) Dept of ENT HNS. There were talks delivered by Dr Stayamurthy, Dean, Dr Parinitha S., Asst Prof, Dept of Pulmonary Medicine. The theme for this year was “THREAT TO ENVIRONMENT”. Dr. Rajiv, Assoc Prof, Dept of ENT HNS and Dr. Vindhya P, Assoc Prof, Dept of Pulmonary Medicine gave presentations on ‘Oropharyngeal malignancies and its burden’ and ‘How tobacco has evolved from being social custom to an addiction’. The speakers were felicitated with a small token of appreciation. The prizes were distributed to the winners of the poster presentation competition. The winners were Tejas and team – 1st prize, Shreya and team – 2nd prize and Deeksha and team – 3rd prize.

All the teaching staff, post graduates, under graduates, nursing staff and patients attended this program. The program was followed by a skit performance by the post graduates and lecturers at hospital lobby. The program came to end with a vote of thanks by Dr Vivek G, DMS. Dept of ENT HNS and Dept of Pulmonary Medicine joint venture made the program a grand success.
