Global Hand Washing Day 2022

Global Handwashing Day was celebrated under the 2022 theme “Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene” by Department of Microbiology on October 15th 2022 in Kadamba Auditorium from 9.15 am to 1.15 am.

Global Hand washing Day is celebrated every year to design, test, and replicate creative ways to encourage people to wash their hands with soap at the critical times. Hand hygiene is arguably our most important life skill. So we have to teach it well and teach it often.

The program started with welcome speech by Dr. Yashaswini MK, welcoming the delegates, Dr. B Sathyamurty, Dean, Dr. Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Basavaraj Bandare, Vice Principle (Academics), Dr. Pravin G U, Vice Principle (Administration) and all the Doctors, Post Graduates and Interns to the program. Talk on Innovations in improving hand washing techniques was done by Dr. Yashaswini MK. Followed by Dr. Venkatesh Murthy, Neonatologist & Assistant Professor, Paediatrics Department gave a talk on “Importance of Hand wash in sepsis prevention: ICU perspective” and Dr. Zeel Sheth, Assistant Professor, General Surgery Department spoke on “Role of surgical hand wash in SSI prevention”. Dr. Lakshminarayana, Prof and Head, Microbiology Department was the moderator for the sessions.

A fun activity – “Fastest finger quiz” was conducted by Dr. Yashaswini MK, Associate professor, Department of Microbiology. The top 3 winners were given a token of appreciation.

1st prize = Dr. Kiruthikka. 1styear Post graduate,Paediatrics Department
2nd prize = Dr Rajiv SR. Associate professor, ENT department.
3rd prize = Dr. Nayana Kamath. Final year Post graduate, Paediatrics Department.

The program came to conclusion with high tea.
