Anti-ragging Awareness Mahotsav

Ragging or hazing is no gentle rite of passage but a ritualised form of torture that can cause severe psychological and physical injury. The prevalence of the phenomenon and the damage it can do has been reinforced by reports of other incidents of attempted Suicide after being ragged by seniors. On the occasion of ‘Anti-ragging Ragging or hazing is no gentle rite of passage but a ritualised form of torture that can cause severe psychological and physical injuryAwareness Mahotsav’ which was held from 12th Aug, 2024 to 18th Aug, 2024 at RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Anti Ragging Committee took initiative to conduct competitions like Essay writing , Poster presentation and Collage works related to anti-ragging to persuade the knowledge and spread the importance of anti-ragging. The judges for Essay writing was Dr. Basavaraj Bandari and Dr Sathnarayana. The theme for the essay was “United against Ragging”. Three prizes were awarded to the winners. The word limit was 1000 words. The judge for Poster presentation was Dr Asha and the judge for Collage works was Dr Sham. These competitions was open to all medical Students of RRMCH.
Winners : Essay Writing : 1st Prize – Mr. Nigun Kumar M K, Intern 2nd Prize – Ms. Bhagya Vinod, Second Year MBBS 3rd Prize – Ms. C R Mathangi, Second Year MBBS Poster Presentation: Ms Monica and Ms Vishlakshi, Second Year MBBS Collage Works: Ms. Chakshu. G, Third Year MBBS. The winners were awarded with certificates. In conclusion, ragging is a detrimental practice that hampers the growth and well-being of students in educational institutions. It is crucial for institutions to actively promote and enforce anti-ragging initiatives to create a safe and positive environment for all students. By raising awareness, implementing strict policies, fostering inclusivity, providing support services, and encouraging a sense of community, educational institutions can eradicate ragging and ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe and empowering environment.
