A Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on the topic “Robotic Surgery future is here” was conducted on 20th August 2025 at the Department of General Surgery, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital. The session was held in the Kadamba Hall from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The session was delivered by Dr. Sreedhara V Setty. an eminent robotic and minimally invasive surgery consultant, Fortis hospital Bengaluru having a diverse academic background of MBBS, DNB (General Surgery), FSGE, Fellowship (Surg Gastro)
His multidisciplinary expertise enriched the session and offered a holistic perspective on the advancing Robotic surgical field. His vast experience of completing significant number of robotic surgeries in a brief time provided valuable knowledge and insights into the fast-advancing field.
The Second Dr. Usha BR consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, and Robotic surgeon, Fortis hospital, Bengaluru provided an in-depth exploration of the advancements in Robotic surgery responsibilities faced by Surgery practitioners. She emphasized the significance of use of robots in current and future surgeries, its advantages over laparoscopic surgeries, and the learning curve of Robotic surgery. Through illustrative, real-surgery video demonstrations she highlighted common gynecological conditions managed by robotic surgeries including cases of infertility.
The session was graced by the presence of Dr. Durganna T, Head of the Department of General Surgery; Dr. Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent; along with faculty members and postgraduate students.
The session was interactive, insightful, and highly engaging, fostering active participation from attendees. It not only increased awareness of recent advances in robotic surgeries but also reinforced the importance of further advances in robotic surgery.
