Health Education & Awareness Camp on Balanced Diet & Nutrition

A health education and awareness program by final year MBBS students was conducted at RMAMH-UHTC, Channasandra as part of their electives curriculum. The topic for health education was importance of consuming a balanced diet, Post-natal diet, Diabetic & Hypertensive diet. Beneficiaries included post natal women, adults and elderly people residing in Channasandra locality. The programme was conducted by Department of Physiology in co-ordination with Department of Community Medicine and staff from Urban Health Training Centre, Channasandra.
The Program started at 11: 20 am with lamp lighting ceremony.
• Mrs Usha, Nutritionist from RRMCH briefed about the importance of consuming a balanced meal and following disease specific diet.
• Health education on diet to be followed by Diabetics, Hypertensives & postnatal women was explained with posters, hand made meal plates & pamphlets by Final year MBBS students.
• The program concluded successfully by 1:00 pm with distribution of peanut energy bars and health mix powder (Consisting of cereals, sprouted pulses, nuts & seeds) to the beneficiaries.
• Dr Priyanka Singh, Professor, Ms Nishitha L M &Ms Rashmitha V K, Assistant Professors from Dept. of Physiology and Dr Manasa A R, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine participated and coordinated the program.
• A total of 73 beneficiaries participated in the programme.
Refreshments for the participants and transport were arranged by RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital.
