Health Education Program to Observe World Breastfeeding Week

HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMME HELD ON 20TH AUGUST 2025 AT RHTC K.R. HALLI A health education programme to observe World Breastfeeding Week was conducted in K.R.

HALLI, RHTC on 20 August 2025. The topic for health education was this year’s theme i.e. Prioritize Breastfeeding: create sustainable support systems. Beneficiaries include antenatal and postnatal mothers residing in K.R. Halli. The programme was conducted by Department of Community Medicine, RRMCH in association with Department of Paediatrics, RRMCH, Rotary cantonment organization.

The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Srividya V (Professor and HOD) and Dr. Shashikala Manjunatha (Professor, Senior Advisor), Dr. Aishwarya.S (Associate Professor), Dr. K. Bhavya (1st year pg.), Dr. Shreeram (1st year pg.), interns and staff of K.R. Halli RHTC. The Programme started at 11.30am with lamp lighting ceremony. Dr. Shashikala Manjunatha (Professor, Senior Advisor) Department of community medicine gave the welcome address. Dr. Aishwarya.S (Associate Professor), Dr. K. Bhavya (1st year pg.), Dr. Shreeram (1st year pg.) Department of Community Medicine, Dr. Surabee (Assistant Professor) Department of Pediatrics, Anganwadi worker also participated in the programme.

Health education on importance and benefits of breastfeeding was explained by interns with the help of models and posters. Explanation of technique of breastfeeding, complementary feeding was done by interns. Clarification of myths on breastfeeding was done by the faculty. The Health Education session concluded successfully by 1.00pm followed by refreshments. A Total of 26 beneficiaries participated in the programme. Refreshments, Transport, incentives for the participants were arranged by RajaRajeshwari Medical College and Hospital.
