Infection Prevention and Control Week 2022
Infection Prevention and Control week was celebrated under the 2022 theme “The Future is Infection Prevention: 50 Years of Infection Prevention” by Department of Microbiology Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospitals from October 16th to 22nd 2022.
Infection Prevention Week is observed every third week of October to educate stakeholders and the general public on the importance of preventing the spread of illnesses and infectious agents. This year, it was held from October 16thto 22nd. Infections ranging from hospital-acquired to those found in homes or workplaces can compromise healthcare workers’ efforts and have a detrimental impact on public health. Every year, secondary infections cause thousands of health concerns in hospitals. Global pandemics are also sparked by the rapid spread of infectious pathogens. The Infection Prevention Week’s goal is to learn more about infection prevention and how it might help improve patient safety.
In view of this week, training programs were conducted for all the cadre of healthcare professionals on the infection prevention measures to be practiced in the hospital on each day along with fun filled quiz activities.
An online quiz through Google forms was conducted on 20/10/22 for Postgraduate students and on 21/10/22 for all nursing staff. The top 5 highest scores were given certificates by Dr. Praveen Kumar, medical superintendent and appreciated.
