Every year International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May to commemorate the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birthday. This day also celebrates the contribution done by nurses to society around the world. On this day the International Council of Nurses organisation produces an International Nurses kit to educate and assist health workers globally with a different theme every year.
Every year National Technology Day is observed on 11 May to highlight the important role of Science in our daily lives and encourage students to opt for science as an option for a career. On this day Shakti, the Pokhran nuclear test was held on 11 May 1998.
Every year on May 10, people worldwide observe World Lupus Day. Its purpose was to make us more aware of the fact that the seemingly unrelated symptoms are actually signs of a chronic, crippling autoimmune disease.
World Thalassaemia Day or International Thalassaemia Day is observed every year on 8 May in honour of all patients suffering from Thalassaemia and for their parents who have never lost hope for life, despite the burden of their disease. This day also encourages those who struggle to live with the disease.
World Athletics Day is observed on 7 May to raise awareness about sports among youth, in schools and institutions to promote athletics as the primary sport. And to introduce new talent and youngsters in the field of athletics.
World Asthma Day is observed every year on the first Tuesday of May to spread awareness and care about asthma in the world. An annual event is organised by the Global Initiative for Asthma. Asthma is a chronic inflammation of bronchitis causing cough, breathlessness, chest tightness etc.
It is observed on May 6 annually. It is a celebration of body acceptance, including fat acceptance and body shape diversity.
International Labour Day is also known as Labour Day or May Day. It is celebratedglobally every year on the 1st of May. In India, Labour Day is referred to asAntarrashtriya Shramik Diwas or Kamgar Din.

Consultant ENT and Head & Neck Surgeon and Associate Professor, Department of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery, RRMCH, was recently invited as an esteemed Faculty Member at the
1st World Congress on Eustachian Tube Research and Interventions, held from
11th to 13th April 2025 at the prestigious
Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City, Dubai, UAE.
Amongst
35 distinguished Faculty from across the globe,
Dr. Dinesh Kumar was one of only
four faculty members representing India, marking a significant
achievement for the nation and our institution.
At this landmark global congress, Dr. Rajendran Dinesh Kumar delivered an invited lecture on the topic:
“High-Resolution Computed Tomography Study of the Length, Width & Angle of Eustachian Tube in Normal Ear and in Chronic Otitis Media.”
His research presentation was highly appreciated by international peers, and it showcased innovative insights into imaging-based anatomical variations critical to the diagnosis and management of Eustachian tube dysfunction and chronic ear diseases.
The congress brought together leading researchers, clinicians, and innovators, setting a new benchmark for advancements in Eustachian tube science and intervention strategies.
Dr. Rajendran Dinesh Kumar’s participation at this prestigious global platform stands as a testament to his academic excellence, clinical expertise, and commitment to advancing ENT research.

Postgraduate residents from the
Department of ENT & Head and Neck Surgery, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH), made their mark at the
20th Annual Meeting of the Middle East Academy of Otolaryngology, held from
11th to 13th April 2025 in Dubai, UAE.

Dr. Rishab Kumar (2nd Year PG) presented his e-poster titled
“Sealing the Gap: Customized Tissue Adhesive Revolutionizing CSF Leak Repairs in ENT Surgeries.”

Dr. Aditya Anthony Arnaldo Fernandes (2nd Year PG) presented his e-poster titled
“Bronchoscopic Foreign Body Removal from Right Bronchus.”
Both residents were recognized for their efforts and received an additional
500 AED cash award along with a 30% waiver on their conference registration fees, acknowledging their active participation.
They were guided and accompanied by
Dr. Rajendran Dinesh Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of ENT & Head and Neck Surgery, who also represented India as a Faculty Speaker at the
1st World Congress on Eustachian Tube Research and Interventions during the same period at the
Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City.
This international exposure served as a tremendous learning experience, inspiring young minds and showcasing RRMCH’s commitment to nurturing future leaders in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery.
