RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH), in partnership with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), successfully hosted the National Conference 2025 of the Karnataka Health Sciences Library Association (KHSLA) on 7th and 8th February 2025. Held at the prestigious Kadamba Hall, the conference brought together experts, professionals, and enthusiasts from the field of library and information sciences.

In observance of World Cancer Day, a Health Education and Screening Program was organized at the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Channasandra, on 4th February 2025. The theme for this year’s event was “United by Unique”, aimed at raising awareness about cancer prevention, screening, and early detection.
The event was conducted by the Department of Community Medicine, RRMCH, in collaboration with the Rotary International Organization. Under the guidance of Dr. Shashikala Manjunatha (Head of Department, Community Medicine), and Dr. Manasa A R (Assistant Professor & In-charge, Channasandra UHTC), along with the dedicated staff, the program successfully engaged the local community.
A new study has uncovered vision-improving benefits from consuming pistachios daily.
Adding pistachios to one’s diet improves eyesight, according to a new study.
The study found that eating two ounces of pistachios daily for 12 days significantly improved the health of macular pigment optical density.
Macular degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss for people over the age of 60.
The key to pistachios’ vision benefit is the plant pigment lutein, which is unusually bioavailable in nuts.
Eating a handful of pistachio nuts each day can significantly improve eye health, according to a new study from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. Adding two ounces of unsalted, shelled, dry-roasted pistachio nuts each day for 12 weeks to participants’ usual diet improved their macular pigment optical density (MPOD).
The study was supported by the American Pistachio Growers and the National Institutes of Health’s National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences.
The macula is a small area in the center of the retina at the back of the eye. It is critically important for good vision in that it is
responsible for central vision, color vision, and capturing fine visual details. These include facial features and written text.
It is not uncommon for macular degeneration to occur as one ages. It is estimated Trusted Source that about 20 million U.S. adults have macular degeneration, which is a leading cause of vision loss and blindness.
All India Institutes of Medical Sciences AIIMS, Bibinagar, Hyderabad, Department of Physiology had organised a “E-poster”
competition for students from Medical Colleges all over India.
More than 100 students participated across the Country. Among these 11 students of 1st year MBBS – batch 2024-25 had participated from our college in this event. We are thrilled to share with everyone that among these participants Mr Animesh, MBBS 1st Year-2024-25 batch student won the 2nd prize. Only two colleges from Karnataka have bagged the prize in such a competitive event, especially with over 100 students participating from all over India!
Incredibly exciting to flaunt that, our college is one among them.
The entire participant showed their best amalgamation of art and knowledge where the event showcased the application of Physiology in a creative way.
RA Awareness Day is Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Day and is observed on 2 February to spread awareness for patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.

The Torrent Young Scholar Award (TYSA) is an esteemed annual event organized by Torrent Pharmaceuticals for pediatric postgraduates across India. This year, in the 1st round (online) of the South Zone, postgraduate students from various institutions participated.
We are proud to share that two final-year postgraduates from department of Pediatrics, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Rahul Agrawal and Dr. Nikhitha Ravi, successfully qualified for the 2nd round. Out of the 12 candidates who made it to the 2nd round, only 3 were selected for the national round from south zone. Among these, we are delighted to announce that Dr. Rahul Agrawal from department of pediatrics has secured a place in the national round, which will be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The finals will be held in the 1st week of february 2025.
