Report On Inauguration Of Tobacco Cessation Centre (TCC)

ln line with its commitment to promote public health and combating the adverse effects of tobacco use, the Government of India has decided to establish Tobacco Cessation Centres in medical colleges across the country. This initiative aims to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure by integrating specialized services for tobacco cessation into the educational and healthcare framework. Accordingly, the Tobacco Cessation Centre at RRMCH was inaugurated virtually by Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri J.P.Nadda on 24th September 2024. The program was presided over by Dr. Sathyamurthy B, Dean, RRMCH, Dr Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent, RRMCH and Dr Basavaraj Bhandare, Vice-Principal, RRMCH.
The event was attended by Heads of various departments of RRMCH along with teaching staff. The centre constitutes team members from Departments of Community Medicine (Nodal Officer), Psychiatry and Pulmonary Medicine under the guidance of Dean/Principal. The program started around 11am with key note addresses from various dignitaries from the department of Health and Family Welfare, national level sportspersons and other celebrities. Virtual inauguration of TCCs at all medical colleges across the country was done by the Union Health Minister. The programme concluded successfully with all of us taking the pledge to stop tobacco use, encourage and support others in quitting tobacco use.

Founder Chancellor’s Birthday Celebration

Wishing our esteemed Founder Chancellor a very Happy Birthday! Your dedication, leadership, and vision have shaped our group of institutions into a beacon of knowledge and excellence. May this year bring you joy, health, and continued success! As an inclination Rajarajeswari Group of Institutions celebrated our beloved Founder Chancellor’s Dr. A. C. Shanmugam’s Birthday in a very splendid grade at ACS Conventional Hall in Rajarajeswari Medical College Campus. This celebration was also graced by his family members Mrs Lalitha Lakshmi, Mr. ACS ArunKumar and family for this magnificent merriment of Founder Chancellor’s Birthday. A series of outreach activities, Inter collegiate Sports and Cultural Programs were conducted.
Celebrating our Founder Chancellor’s birthday which has always been a festive juncture interspersed with Community Outreach programs like voluntary blood donation, distribution of Rice, distribution of bread and fruits to the patients in our hospital, Sports and Cultural events, Competitions amongst our group of institutions.
All the institutions under the umbrella of RajaRajeswari Group of Institutions have enthusiastically shouldered the responsibilities and conducted various sports and cultural events. As we all are aware that our respected Founder Chancellor Dr. A. C. Shanmugam’s has a very strongly believes in equality and togetherness, what better way to celebrate his birthday than EKATTVA-INVICTA the fest of oneness. Its needless to say how splendid and accomplished EKATTVA was. The cultural fest was also accompanied by non medical and medical workshops conducted by various depts. As the sports component of EKATTVA-CHAIRMAN’S TROPHY an Inter-state South Zone Cricket tournament was organized by RRMCH. RRGI participated in all the various sports events which were conducted by each institution making all the events a huge success. Apart from Cultural and sports, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital going in the footsteps of our FOUNDER, initiated many donations, Health Camps were made.

Family Adoption Program – 2024

Date: 24th September 2024
National Medical Commission in association with National Health and Family Welfare had organized a “Family Adoption Program” at New Delhi. This program was address by Mr. J P Nadda and other dignitaries at Dhanavantri Auditorium – NMC.
The glimpses of the virtual participation by RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital members namely Dr. SathyaMurthy – Dean, Dr. Praveen – Medical Superintendent, Dr Bhandari – Vice principal, Academics & Staff Dr. Shashikala Manjunatha – HOD, Dr. Srividya, Dr. Usha from Department of Community Medicine.
It was proud to share also that Dr. Marvel K Soman, Final Year PG bagged a prize in Essay competition in the program.

Workshop on Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME)

Date: 18/9/2024 to 20/9/2024
Time: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
A 3 days workshop on Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) was conducted at Medical Education unit room of Rajarajeswari Medical College and hospital, Bengaluru.
The workshop was organized by the Medical Education Unit of Rajarajeswari Medical College and hospital and was coordinated by NMC regional / Nodal centre St John’s medical college & Hospital, Bengaluru.
A total of 30 participants divided among 5 groups took active participation during this 3 days workshop.
Dr. P Ishwarabhat was the observer from St John’s Medical College & Hospital who provided timely inputs and suggestions during various sessions.
Numerous sessions were engaged by the Resource Faculty of Medical Education Unit, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital with lot of group activities, interactions and timely analysis. Small fun activities were conducted in between sessions to break the monotony of the workshop.
A planned online pretest was given to participants before the beginning of the workshop and post test at the end of the workshop to evaluate the effectiveness of the programme. Workshop ended with distribution of certificates to all the participants.

World Suicide Day – 2024

On the occasion of World Suicide Day 10TH September 2024 awareness program was conducted by Department of Community Medicine and Department of Psychiatry from 11th to 13th September in RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital.
The following events are observed:
1. Unveiled Banner on Prevention of suicide near flag post-11TH September 2024.
2. A Webinar attended by teaching faculty-11TH September 2024.

Patient Safety Day – NABH

‘World Patient Safety Day’ is observed annually on September 17th to raise awareness and promote global solidarity for patient safety in healthcare systems. This year’s theme, “Improving Diagnosis for patient safety” and the slogan, “Get it Right, Make it safe,” call for action to enhance diagnostic processes and improve outcomes for patients worldwide. RRMCH organized a Patient Safety Day program to recognize Patient Safety Day and enhance patient safety practices in healthcare. The program included various talks on patient safety, role plays, and poster presentations from both clinical and non-clinical departments. The program was chaired by Dr. Sathyamurthy B., Dean, and Dr. Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent. It was organized by the Safety Committee. The event was attended by faculty, postgraduates, interns, nurses, paramedics, administrators, and supportive staff.
