International Civil Aviation Day
In 1996 the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed that
7 December was to be the International
Civil Aviation Day. The day has been celebrated by the International Civil Aviation Organization since 7 December 1994, the 50th anniversary of the signing the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
World anaesthesia day is celebrated every year on
16th october. This marks the successful demonstration of ether as an anaesthetic by W.T.G Morton on this date. The theme of this year’s World Anaesthesia day was
“Anaesthesia and Cancer Care” – highlighting the critical role of Anaesthesia in cancer care and improve outcome for cancer patients.

A Health Education program was conducted in Ganakal Government High school for the
8th and 9th standard students on 20th November 2023. It was organised by Department of Community Medicine in association with Dept. of Pediatrics to create awareness regarding
Adolescent health, World teenagers’ week and Girl Child day.

Dr Prema, Professor and Adolescent Health Clinic I/C , PGs from Dept. of Pediatrics,
Dr.Aishwarya S, Associate Professor and I/C of KR Halli, RHTC along with the staff of KR Halli RHTC attended the event. A total of
64 beneficiaries/ students were present for the event.
- The event began with a welcome speech by the school Headmaster and introduction of speakers was done by the teacher.
- Dr. Adarsh highlighted the importance maintaining of Physical, Mental, Social and Sexual Health during the dynamic period of adolescents. He also conducted small group discussion among students to identify their strengths, weaknesses, food preferences and exercise habits.
- Dr. Prema explained in detail regarding the changes during adolescents and depicted through charts the harmful effects of consuming junk food and need to inculcate a balanced nutritive diet. She also gave examples of effects of internet addiction and lack of exercise.
- The session was summarized by Dr Aishwarya S and key points on maintenance of emotional health were told to the students.
- Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Aishwarya S and the event ended successfully.

Orientation program for the first year Post Graduate students (batch of 2023-24) was conducted on
8.11.2023 at Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital in Kadamba Auditorium by the Medical Education Unit. Program was attended by around 190 post graduates who have joined the various departments for the academic year 2023-2024.Program was begun with invocation song and lamp lighting by dignitaries. It was followed by welcome address by
Dr Leena Ravindra, Professor of Dermatology and MEU coordinator.
Students were given a brief overview about the university rules and regulations by our Dean
Dr Sathyamurthy. Dr Praveen Kumar, medical superintendent stressed upon the Documentation policies and case records.
Dr Priyadarshini, professor of Biochemistry presented our Lab medicine and protocols. Infection prevention and control policies of the institute were highlighted by
Dr Archana, associate professor of microbiology. Students were then impressed upon about the work and conduct ethics and the role of vishaka committee by
Dr Sangeetha, Professor of microbiology.
All the students gave a brief introduction of themselves and the program was concluded with a vote of thanks by
Dr Sahaya Nirmala, professor of Pediatrics. The entire program was seamlessly conducted by MC,
Dr Mythri, associate professor of physiology. Oral Feedback and opinions were taken from the students.
