Sankranti is one of the most popular harvest festivals of South India. Sankranti falls in the mid-January every year and marks the auspicious beginning of Uttarayan – sun’s journey northwards. This festival lasts for four days. Celebrations include worshiping cow, drawing of Kolam & cooking of delicious Pongal.
Our staff & students celebrated this festival in a traditional way by preparing ‘Pongal’ in mud pot with all religious traits and performed special Pooja. All the boys and girls in dhoties and Sarees depicted our cultural way of dressing.
Cultural programs were performed by the students like dance & singing songs which denote the importance of this festival. The celebration came to an end with distribution of sweet pongal and kara pongal.
