Department of Pediatrics observed World Breast Feeding Week at RRMCH from Aug 1-7th
Programme was inaugurated on 1st Aug in the department of pediatrics by auspicious Lightening of the lamp by Dr. Govindraju (MS), Dr. Adarsh (Hod, Dept of Pediatrics), MS Kanchana (N S), with addressing of the gathering by Dr. Adarsh who enlightened us about the importance of breast feeding.
It was supported by S/N Renuka, Ms. Anitha, who took immense interest in educating the mother in the ANC, PNC ward and encouraged them for breast feeding.
It is a part of creating awareness regarding the importance, advantages, and methods of breast feeding. Collages related to breastfeeding were projected by the nursing students.
We extended our awareness programme with great enthusiasm beyond our hospital.
We conducted a program at Kethohalli on 7/8/18, the residual committee was educated by various means. Undergraduate students prepared health education material to educate mothers. Enlightening talk delivered by Dr. Adarsh (HOD of pediatrics) who imbibed the crowd with awareness regarding exclusive breast feeding, mother and child nutrition, Complimentary feeding and advised their queries regarding difficulties in breast feeding, our S/N Renuka, enacted various methods breast feeding.
Quiz programme was conducted at Kadamba Hall, as a part of Breast feeding awareness for PG’s, UG’s by Dr. Vivekananda as quiz master and prizes Distributed by Dr. Adarsh.
All the programs during breast feeding week were conducted under the able guidance of HOD, Dr. Adarsh, NICU Incharge Dr. Sahana. We extended our gratitude to the Staff from Department of Pediatrics, Department of OBG and Staff nurses. We successfully conducted Breast feeding week. Breast Feeding is not a choice, it is the responsibility of the mother & the society.
