World Mental Health Day 2022

Every year 10th of October is observed as ‘World Mental Health Day’. This day is celebrated to create awareness about mental health well being and fighting the stigma against mental illness. In view of this, the Department of Psychiatry in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine conducted various programs to amplify mental health awareness. On 12th October 2022 mental health camps were held at ACS College of Engineering, RajaRajeswari Engineering Colleges and RajaRajeswari Dental College and Hospital. Various competitions like poetry writing, essay writing, collage making and painting were also conducted for medical and nursing students. These competitions were centered on World Mental Health Day and the theme of this year “Make mental health a global priority for all”. All this culminated with a final celebration on 21st October at Kadamba Hall between 10 am to 1 pm. The members present in the program were senior administrative officers, faculty members of various departments and medical students in large numbers. All the winners of the various competitions were awarded prizes. The highlight of the program was psychologically ill patients and their caretakers coming forward and sharing their mental health experiences and stories with us. The program was well received by all.
