Department of Microbiology and Department of Community Medicine are conducting a CME in view of ‘Worlds Aids Day’ in Association with BBMP & KSAPS.

World AIDS Day 2019 was observed with great fervour by RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital, Bangalore. The event was jointly organized by RRMCH, Govt of Karnataka, NACO, BBMP, KSAPS, DTO & Lions Club with RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital, Department of Community Medicine & Department of Microbiology co-ordinated & conducted the program.
These events were conducted on Thursday, 12th December 2019 to commemorate World AIDS Day
• HIV Awareness Drive at Kengeri Bus Terminus
• CME on recent updates on HIV/ AIDS & Tuberculosis at Kadamba Auditorium
• Felicitation of various cadres of staff working in the field of HIV/AIDS
• Prize distribution of Painting, Collage & Speech competitions held on the occasion of World AIDS Day
Department of Community Medicine organized painting & collage competition for the undergraduate MBBS students and Speech competition was held by the Department of Microbiology. Third term MBBS students took part in this program enthusiastically and performed exceptionally well. These competitions were held on Monday, 9th December 2019 and the winners were awarded the prizes on 12/12/2019.
For the HIV awareness drive, 247 students from the third term were divided into 25 health education teams of 10 members each. Govt on India & NACO published HIV awareness material was provided to the health education teams and they were instructed to be well versed with the contents of the material. Members from each of these teams prepared placards displaying information of HIV /AIDS. Members of the teams interviewed and educated the general public on various aspects of HIV/AIDS with focus on prevention, modes of transmission of HIV/AIDS, testing and Treatment of HIV.
15 students from the class performed a street play on HIV/AIDS which was both informative and entertaining. The street play was very well received by the general public and technical persons alike.
KSAPS organized Magic show & Dollu kunitha to engage the public gathered at the bus terminus and also spread awareness regarding usage of condoms.
Pamphlets, containing basic information on HIV/AIDS were distributed during the program.
Human chain formation and sloganeering was also done at the kengeri bus terminus as part of the HIV awareness drive. The field activities concluded with the release of red balloons at the flag post in RRMCH campus by the dignitaries from Govt of Karnataka, KSAPS, BBMP, Lion’s club and the members of the management & by the Professors and PGs of RRMCH.
