3 Novartis Biocamp winners from India make it to the global Biocamp event.
The Novartis International Biotechnology Leadership Camp (BioCamp) is a pioneering three-day seminar that brings the biotechnology sector closer to talented students from top universities around the world. Held at Novartis International Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, the program offers participants an opportunity to Interact with key Novartis scientists and gives an insight into their approach to drug discovery and learn about breakthrough new medicines to address patients’ unmet medical needs.
Around 60 students from around the world are expected to participate in the global BioCamp being held at the Novartis Campus in Basel, Switzerland from August 23 to 26.
Dr Pavithra Krishnan, pursuing her MD in Pharmacology, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore has been selected among the top three students to represent India at the global event.
Students went through a rigorous judging process before they were selected to participate in the country’s BioCamp held at Hyderabad. This time, 56 students from diverse faculties, including pharmacology, biotechnology, life sciences, finance, biomedical engineering, business management and immunology participated at the India event that was held from July 6-8, 2015.
Institutes that participated included the Indian Institutes of Technology,Kharagpur; the Indian Institute of Management, St Johns Medical College,Bangalore, BITS – Pilani; the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and Mohali; XLRI – Jamshedpur,Manipal University; Christian Medical College, Vellore; and JIPMER Puducherry, among others.
Dr Manthan Mehta from TNMC, Mumbai, Sharmishta Sharma from the Indian School of Business and Dr Pavithra Krishnan from RRMCH, Bangalore are the winners to fly to Switzerland and represent India at the global event.
