This interactive workshop was conducted by Department of Microbiology, under the aegis of the Academy of Clinical Microbiologists, on August 31st at RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital. There were 100 registrations for this interactive workshop which discussed the subject – ‘OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION’. The programme began with an invocation song, sung by Dr.Shruthi and Dr.Sangeetha, Prof. & HOD, Department of Microbiology delivered the welcome speech. The Dean Dr. Godhara, Principal Dr.Usha, Medical Superintendent Dr.Govindaraju, Additional Medical Director Dr.Rangappa graced the occasion with their esteemed presence. Dr. Satish Amarnath, Director, Manipal Cure and Care made a speech on the ‘Workshop Dynamics’. The participants of the workshop introduced themselves and briefed the audience about the case given to them. Very informative discussions on many subjects such as ‘outbreak due to Hepatitis A virus, Gram negative sepsis and shock, chemical posing as a pathogen, antibiotic policy, blood stream infections due to contaminated intravenous fluids’ took place in the workshop. This session ended with expert remarks from Dr. Satish Amarnath and Dr. Indumathi. The afternoon session began with oral paper and poster presentation facilitated by Dr. Shashikala, Dr.Kiran and Dr.Ratish .The following oral papers were presented.
