A Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on the topic “Medico-Legal Aspects in ENT” was conducted on 16th May 2025 at the Department of ENT – Head and Neck Surgery, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital. The session was held in the Demo Room from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
The session was delivered by Dr. Rupali Patil Jain, an eminent medico-legal consultant with a diverse academic background, including MBBS, DORL, DPAA, LL.B, PGDHHM, and PGDMLS. Her multidisciplinary expertise enriched the session and offered a holistic perspective on medico-legal issues relevant to ENT practice. The session was graced by the presence of Dr. T.M. Nagaraj, Head of the Department of ENT-HNS; Dr. Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent; along with faculty members and postgraduate students.
Dr. Rupali Patil Jain provided an in-depth exploration of the medico-legal responsibilities faced by ENT practitioners. She emphasized the significance of comprehensive pre-operative consent, meticulous documentation, and ethical patient communication. Through illustrative, real-life case discussions, she highlighted common medico-legal pitfalls and provided practical strategies to avoid them.
The session was interactive, insightful, and highly engaging, fostering active participation from attendees. It not only increased awareness of legal safeguards but also reinforced the importance of ethical medical practice. This CME was especially beneficial for postgraduate students, equipping them with vital legal knowledge and practical tools necessary for a safe, ethical, and successful career in ENT.
