The committee had several meetings and together they formed a timetable for the entire foundation course which was later on shown to dean sir and got approval of the same. The time table is attached. The topics were taken from the GMER 2018 draft booklet issued by MCI and allotted as per the timings provided by them. As per the instructions of Medical Council of India, the foundation course is supposed to start from 1st August 2019, so permission is sought from dean, vice principals, convener, principal and executive director. The Foundation course started on 1st August 2019 with pooja and introduction to college, hospital, informative speech by dean, principal, Heads of the Preclinical departments, and other administrators. Around 160 students, their parents attended the first day event of foundation course. Later on the foundation course continued as per the timetable.

There were various faculties involved in foundation course for various topics which mainly consisted of role plays, quiz, poster making, collage, hands on training, lecture, interactive discussion, skit, buzz group, fish in the bowl technique, etc.

The sports and other extracurricular activities were executed well. The language classes were taken by faculty from outside. Non-karnataka students had good time in learning kannada. Computer classes were conducted in the digital library with hands on training for Microsoft office and online resource searching.

The timings of foundation course was changed from 8.45 am to 1.15 pm and 1.45 pm to 4.15 pm the students requested for change in timings as they wanted to reach home early for the students who used to stay far away and due to traffic problems.

Few of the hiccups during the foundation course was that some students were found handling mobiles during class hours who were taken to the disciplinary committee and warned not to repeat the same in future with an apology letter. Few students were found not participating in the sessions. Feedback of all the students, resource persons and Medical Education Unit observers were sought and taken. White coat ceremony was scheduled on 30th August 2019 which was headed by Dean, Vice-principals, Heads of the Departments and staff of preclinical departments. Students were introduced to the white coat ceremony and highlighted about the importance of white coat ceremony. Later all the students were presented with white coat and group photo was taken.
The foundation course was completed on 31st August 2019 with prize distribution for the students who had won in Quiz, Poster and Collage competitions. The feedback was sent to St. John’s Medical College on 11th September 2019.
