Bangalore, November 28th, 2012: RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital, popularly known as RRMCH, has launched a medical book in Kannada named ‘Vaidya Saahithya Srishti’ this month, regarding Karnataka Rajyotsava Day, which is celebrated on 1st November of every year. This book is an in-house publication of RRMCH that will be available across Karnataka in all the major publishers’ outlets.
The book focuses on various subjects regarding medical know-how as well as a medical dictionary in Kannada language, which also elaborates on various common terms used for medical purposes.
Speaking at the book launch, A. C Shanmugam, Chairman of RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital stated, “As a responsible medical institution we feel that it is our duty to spread the true knowledge of medical science. We have patients coming from all across the country, many of whom rarely understand even the nature of their diseases. Our book is an initiative to solve that issue, at least, from the state level. The content of this book is designed in a way that both the patients and the medical practitioners from Karnataka can benefit from it. When countries like China, Japan can prosper without compromising with their languages, why don’t we take an initiative here?”
The Chief Guest in the occasion, Visheshwara Bhatt, the Chief Editor of Kannada Prabha said, “In the current educational scenario, we have noticed that the importance of a mother tongue is waning out. It is our duty to protect the interests of our rich language, Kannada. The launch of this book on health and medical science in Kannada will also enhance the importance of the language.”
The book is edited by Prof. Vasanth A. Kulkarni and launched by Visheshwara Bhatt. As a part of the launch, there was an open forum where audience interacted with the dignitaries like Kannada writer K.S. Chaitra and N. A Someshawara.
