National Girl Child Week
On the occasion of National Girl Child week, Department of Paediatrics, RRMCH, Bangalore, celebrated Girl Child day on (24/01/2021). The concept of this event is “Empower girl child for a brighter tomorrow”. As we know, the International Girl Child Day is celebrated by the United Nations on October 11th, which was established 25 years ago at the Beijing meet, where it was decided to celebrate on this day that is October 11th of every year.
This year’s International Girl Child Day’s theme is “My voice, our equal futures”. Marking this day promotes awareness on issues faced by girl children in India mainly on their education and nutrition intake.
The event took place in the hospital Lobby. Welcome by the Head of Department, Dr. Adarsh E, chaired by the Medical Superintendent Dr. Praveen Kumar. A role play was enacted by the post graduates of the department of paediatrics with a message “Journey of a girl child”. Various cultural programs were presented by particularly girl children, in presence of parents, nurses, students, patients, teaching and non teaching staff, they were inspired to spread the awareness regarding the issues faced by girl children in the Indian society.
The event was concluded by a vote of thanks.
