ontinuing Medical Education (CME) session on the topic
“Robotic Surgery future is here” was conducted on
20th August 2025 at the Department of
General Surgery, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital. The session was held in the
Kadamba Hall from
11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The session was delivered by
Dr. Sreedhara V Setty. an eminent robotic and minimally invasive surgery consultant, Fortis hospital Bengaluru having a diverse academic background of MBBS, DNB (General Surgery), FSGE, Fellowship (Surg Gastro)
His multidisciplinary expertise enriched the session and offered a holistic perspective on the advancing Robotic surgical field. His vast experience of completing significant number of robotic surgeries in a brief time provided valuable knowledge and insights into the fast-advancing field.
The Second
Dr. Usha BR consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, and Robotic surgeon, Fortis hospital, Bengaluru provided an in-depth exploration of the advancements in Robotic surgery responsibilities faced by Surgery practitioners. She emphasized the significance of use of robots in current and future surgeries, its advantages over laparoscopic surgeries, and the learning curve of Robotic surgery. Through illustrative, real-surgery video demonstrations she highlighted common gynecological conditions managed by robotic surgeries including cases of infertility.
The session was graced by the presence of
Dr. Durganna T, Head of the Department of General Surgery;
Dr. Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent; along with faculty members and postgraduate students.
The session was interactive, insightful, and highly engaging, fostering active participation from attendees. It not only increased awareness of recent advances in robotic surgeries but also reinforced the importance of further advances in robotic surgery.

RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital has conducted Blood Donation camp in our Blood Bank, on the occasion of “World Blood Donors Day”. The theme for World Blood Donor Day 2024 is “20 years of celebrating giving: Thank you, blood donors!”. This theme was chosen to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the event and to express gratitude to blood donors worldwide for their life-saving contributions. It also serves as a reminder of the ongoing need for blood and plasma donations.

The Department of
Obstetrics and Gynaecology at RRMCH, in association with the
Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopists (IAGE), successfully hosted a live laparoscopy workshop titled
“The Eagle Project” on
19th August 2025.
With the theme
“Every Aspiring Gynaecologist Learns Endoscopy,” the event aimed to enhance endoscopic skills among postgraduate students and practitioners.
The workshop featured:

Expert lectures delivered in real-time by experienced laparoscopic surgeons

Hands-on training sessions for postgraduate students

Interactive discussions with national-level faculty
The event saw active participation, insightful learning, and enthusiastic feedback from attendees. It concluded with a vote of thanks and a warm networking lunch, making it a memorable and impactful academic event.
The Department of Ophthalmology, RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital, Bengaluru, successfully conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) on Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) on 13th August 2025 at the Kadamba Auditorium, RRMCH.
The CME focused on the theme “Tiny Eyes, Timely Action”, emphasizing the importance of early screening and intervention in preventing ROP-related childhood blindness. The program brought together ophthalmologists, pediatricians, neonatologists, and residents for a day of academic enrichment and hands-on training.

A health education programme to observe
World Breastfeeding Week was conducted in
Channasandra UHTC on 14th August 2025. The topic for health education was this year’s theme i.e.
“Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems”. Beneficiaries included antenatal and postnatal mothers residing in Channasandra. The programme was conducted by Dept. of Community Medicine, RRMCH in association with Dept. of Paediatrics, RRMCH, Rotary International Organisation and RajaRajeswari College of Nursing. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr Srividya V, Professor & HOD and Dr Shashikala Manjunatha, Senior Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine by Dr. Manasa A R (Assistant Professor cum I/C, Channasandra, Dept. of Community Medicine), Mrs. Annapurna (MSW, Dept. of Community Medicine) and staff of Channasandra UHTC.

The event was honored by the presence of
Smt. Anita B. Haddannavar, IPS as the Chief Guest. She was joined by special invitees
Sri Basavaraj Teli, ACP, and
Sri Manjunath Huggar, Police Inspector. All the dignitaries were warmly welcomed and felicitated by the college management and staff.
In her keynote address, Smt. Anita B. Haddannavar spoke about the serious consequences of ragging—both legal and emotional—and encouraged students to uphold values of respect, empathy, and unity. Her words served as a powerful reminder of the shared responsibility in maintaining a ragging-free academic environment.
The program concluded with a high tea, fostering further dialogue between students, faculty, and the distinguished guests.
We are proud to announce that Dr. Arpitha, Postgraduate from the Department of General Surgery, RRMCH, has secured First Prize in the e-Poster category at the prestigious KSCASI-MIDCON 2025, held at Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore on the 9th and 10th of August 2025.
