Senior Citizens Day – The World Senior Citizen’s Day is celebrated on 21 August each year. The celebration took place for the first time in 1991. The day is intended to increase awareness of the factors and issues that affect older adults, such as health deterioration and elder abuse.

Independence Day 2025

The day of 15th August 1947 has been engraved in the golden history of India. It is the day when India got its freedom from 200 years of British rule. It was a hard and long struggle in which many freedom fighters and great men sacrificed their lives for our beloved motherland.

With due respect and patriotic spirit, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital celebrated Independence Day on 15th August 2025 with great enthusiasm and reverence. The event commenced with the hoisting of the Indian national flag, symbolizing the pride and unity of the nation.
The celebration witnessed active participation from all teaching and non-teaching staff, who came together to honor the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and to reaffirm their commitment to the values of freedom and responsibility. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of pride and patriotism as everyone took part in the occasion with full interest and dedication.

Anti-Ragging Week 2025

RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital (RRMCH), Bengaluru, observed Anti-Ragging Week from 12th to 18th August 2025 with a series of engaging and impactful activities aimed at raising awareness about the dangers and consequences of ragging among students.

Inaugural Rally

The Anti-Ragging Week was officially flagged off on 12th August 2025 with a rally organized around the campus. The event was graced by:

Dr. Praveen Kumar – Medical Superintendent
Dr. Sangeetha Sampath – Chairperson, Anti-Ragging Committee (ARCC)

They were joined by MBBS Phase III Part II students, interns, postgraduates, and the Anti-Ragging Team. The rally served to create awareness about the perils of ragging and emphasized the institution’s zero-tolerance policy towards such acts.

World Breastfeeding Week Celebration at RHTC Chunchankuppe

Organized by: Department of Community Medicine In collaboration with: Rotary Malhar, Department of Pediatrics, and Rajarajeswari College of Nursing

As part of World Breastfeeding Week 2025, a health awareness program was successfully conducted at the Rural Health and Training Centre (RHTC), Chunchankuppe on 7th August 2025. The event was a collaborative initiative by the Department of Community Medicine, Rotary Malhar, the Department of Pediatrics, and the Rajarajeswari College of Nursing, aiming to promote awareness on the significance of breastfeeding for both mother and child.

The program included interactive health education sessions, expert talks, and practical demonstrations emphasizing the importance of early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. Nursing students and healthcare professionals actively engaged with mothers and families in the community, addressing myths, offering nutritional guidance, and answering questions related to infant feeding practices.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from community members and highlighted the critical role of collaborative healthcare initiatives in empowering communities through education and support.

This awareness drive aligns with the global theme of World Breastfeeding Week 2025 and reaffirms our commitment to maternal and child health.

Dr. S. Prabhakara Invited to Present at International Conference in Hawaii, USA

Dr. Prabhakar Invited to Present Research at Prestigious International Congress in the USA
We are proud to announce that Dr. Prabhakar from the Central Research Laboratory (CRL), RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital (RRMCH), has been officially invited to present his research at the upcoming International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders, organized by the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS), USA.

The congress will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, from October 5 – 9, 2025, and is one of the most respected global forums for neurologists, researchers, and clinicians specializing in movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Prabhakar’s selection to present at this international event highlights the cutting-edge research being conducted at RRMCH and reflects our commitment to advancing medical science at a global level.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Prabhakar for this achievement and wish him success in representing RRMCH on this esteemed global platform.

Day 1 : Inauguration
Breastfeeding Week 2025 was inaugurated at Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital with the theme “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Create a Sustainable Support System.”

Day 2: Essay Program
On occasion of Breastfeeding weekday 2(August 2) activity was essay writing competition among postgraduate students based on the theme" Prioritize Breastfeeding create sustainable support system". About 30 students participated was judged by Dr Venkatesh , neonatologist. This was held to assess the awareness among the students. Day 3
Day 4: Quiz Program
On occasion of Breastfeeding week day 4 activity (4th August) was quiz for students regarding breastfeeding … postgraduate students of Pediatrics, Obg and interns participated …quiz master was Dr Shivakumar… programme was attended by about 50 doctors. Winners for quiz competiton are Dr.Niharika Raju and Dr.Sanjana from obg department.

This helped all of us to enlighten about history and various topic on breastfeeding… programme was concluded by vote of thanks by Dr .Rajanish K V , Hod and professor Pediatrics department RRMCH

Day 5: Cooking competition
Day 5 activity on August 5th there was cooking competition theme being mothers healthy lactating diet..this was done to remove the myths regarding mothers healthy lactating diet and was explained to the mothers participated by postgraduate students and nursing students.

Day 6 : Awareness in hospital lobby
Day 6 activity on occasion of World breastfeeding week celebration started with flash mob at hospital waiting lobby followed by awareness talk by Dr Rajanish K V , Professor and head of Pediatrics regarding breastfeeding and its importance to the crowd and followed by skit and Mime by nursing students
Prizes were given to all the winners of various competitions and the programme was concluded by Vote of thanks
Day 7 : PHC Visit
PHC Visit was done by staff and Postgraduates from rrmch and awareness was created regarding Breastfeeding and its importance to the mothers. Occasion was graced by our beloved HOD Dr.Rajanish K V ,Professor Dr.Venkateshmurthy ,Dr.Arpitha & Postgraduates.
