World No Tobacco Day programme at UHTC,Channasandra

“WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY” programme was conducted at UHTC Channasandra on 31st of May 2025 by the Dept of Community Medicine in coordination with departments of Pulmonary Medicine & Psychiatry.

The theme for this year was: “Bright products. Dark intentions. Unmasking the Appeal” referring to the appealing flavors, but hidden dangers of tobacco use,shameless manipulation of children and youth for industry profit. Every day, the tobacco and nicotine industries use carefully engineered products and deceptive tactics to hook a new generation of users and keep existing ones.

The programme started by an introductory talk on World No Tobacco Day 2025 from Dr. Manasa, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine. Awareness lectures regarding different types of Tobacco, its ill effects and preventive measures and legislations aimed at individual level and community level were explained by MBBS Interns using posters. Dr Venkatesh, 2nd year PG resident, Dept. of Pulmonary Medicine briefed about the tobacco cessation services available at RRMCH. Free spirometry test and consultation by the department pulmonary medicine was also done. This programme was organized under the leadership of Dr Satyamurthy, Dean, Dr Basavaraj Bhandare, Principal, Dr Praveen, Medical Superintendent, RRMCH and Dr. Shashikala M., HOD, Dept. of Community Medicine by Dr. Manasa AR, Assistant professor, Dept. of Community Medicine, along with Dr Nivedha, Assistant professor, Dept. of Pulmonary Medicine and Dr Divya, Assistant professor, Dept. of Psychiatry. Community Medicine Department PGs- Dr. Ashraf, Dr. Bhavya, Dr. Shreeram and Dr. Anto joseph along with staff of UHTC, Channasandra actively participated in the programme.
Around 50 beneficiaries comprising of general public with history of tobacco use participated in the programme.

The programme concluded by giving the pledge of the day and motivating the tobacco users in quitting.
Refreshments and transport arrangements were made by RRMCH.

World Thyroid Day 2025

To mark World Thyroid Day 2025, the Departments of General Medicine and Endocrinology at RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH) organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on May 28, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Kadamba Hall in the college premises.

The event began with high tea and saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 medical professionals, including the Dean, Principal, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and residents from across disciplines.

The session was inaugurated by Dr. Sameechi, a second-year medical resident, who delivered a warm welcome address and introduced the theme of the day:

“Thyroid Disease and Artificial Intelligence.”

Her speech highlighted the global importance of thyroid awareness and the evolving role of technology in diagnosis and management.

The CME was widely appreciated for its informative content, interdisciplinary collaboration, and relevance to current medical trends. RRMCH remains committed to fostering continuous learning and awareness through such impactful academic initiatives.

Training Workshop on BLS

A comprehensive BLS (Basic Life Support) training workshop was conducted at Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH) from 19th to 20th March 2025 and 08th , 09th April 2025, in collaboration with AHA (ITC) Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore.

Organized by: Department of Emergency Medicine, RRMCH & Quality Cell, RRMCH In Association With: Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore

The event was inaugurated by the Dr.Basavaraj Bandare, Principal, Dr.Sathyamurthy.B Dean, Dr. Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ambareesha . M HOD Emergency Medicine, and Dr. Sahajananda.H, NABH Coordinator of RRMCH. Tokens of appreciation were distributed to all the instructors in recognition of their valuable contribution.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from postgraduate students and hospital staff.

Training Details:
The sessions were led by AHA-certified instructors from various locations, who provided hands-on training and theoretical insights as per the latest American Heart Association (AHA) protocols for BLS.
Each session concluded with both a theory and practical examination, and successful participants received certificates issued online.
The workshop was a significant step towards enhancing emergency response capabilities and resuscitation skills among healthcare professionals, aligning with global standards in emergency care.

Training Workshop on ACLS

A comprehensive ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) training workshop was conducted at Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH) from 20th May 2025 to 24th May 2025, in collaboration with EIIEMS, Kottayam.

Department of Emergency Medicine, RRMCH & Quality Cell, RRMCH in Association With IIEMS, Kottayam
The event was inaugurated 20th May 2025 by Dr. Basavaraj Bandare, Principal, Dr. Sathyamurthy.B – Dean, Dr. Praveen Kumar – Medical Superintendent , Dr. Ambareesha . M – HOD Emergency Medicine, and Dr. Sahajananda. H – NABH Coordinator of RRMCH.
There were 90 participants including few of the Faculty members of our institution.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from postgraduate students and hospital staff.

Training Details:
The sessions were led by AHA-certified instructors from various locations of Karnataka, & Kerala, who provided hands-on training and theoretical insights as per the latest American Heart Association (AHA) protocols for ACLS and BLS.
Each session concluded with both a theory and practical examination, and successful participants will receive certificates online.
Mementos as token of appreciation were distributed to all the instructors in recognition of their valuable contribution.
The workshop was a significant step towards enhancing emergency response capabilities and resuscitation skills among healthcare professionals, aligning with global standards in emergency care.

PG – Enrichment Training Program

Central Research Lab, RRMCH are conducting an enrichment training program to PGs for all the departments of RRMCH, 2024-2025 batch. This will motivate our PGs to do more research work , further help them to complete their thesis work and also enhance publications.

We are pleased to inform that an Enrichment Training Programme will be organized on PCR, RT PCR, Agarose Gel electrophoresis, Nanodrop Spectrophotometer, HPLC, Flow Cytometer, Fluroscent Microscope, Cobase e 411 Autoanalyzer, Fully Automated IHC/ISH Slide Staining Instrument, Electroencephalogram Neuropack S1 and Electroneuromyogram- Nihon Khoden instruments in Central Research Lab from 26-05 -2025 to 06-06-2025 for the fresh Postgraduates (2024-2025 batch) of the following departments of RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital. This training program will be mandatory for fresh postgraduates (2024-2025 batch). However, we also welcome all interested staff and other postgraduates to attend this training programme.

Carpediem Odyssey 2025

Date: 28th May 2025, & 29th May 2025 and 30th May 2025.

The much-anticipated Carpediem Odyssey 2025, the inter-batch cultural fest of RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and grandeur on May 28th, 2025.

The event commenced under the esteemed presence of Founder Chancellor Dr. A. C. Shanmugam, President Dr. A.C.S. Arun Kumar, Executive Director Mr. S. Vijayanand, and other dignitaries, whose continued support and encouragement have always been a source of inspiration for the student community.

The highlight of the inauguration was the presence of renowned Indian singer Vasuki Vaibhav, who officially inaugurated the fest. His presence lit up the event and added a special charm to the morning’s proceedings.

Following the inauguration, the stage came alive with a vibrant bouquet of cultural performances by students, showcasing their creativity, talent, and infectious energy. Events such as the Carpediem Pageant, Western Duet,Apparel Design, and Classical Singing set the tone for the days to come and drew enthusiastic cheers from the audience.

The Inauguration Day was a grand success, marked by immense student enthusiasm, and seamless coordination by the organizing team. It set a perfect precedent for the rest of the fest

Health Awareness Program on Malaria – World Malaria Day 2025

The Department of Community Medicine, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH), organized a Health Awareness Program on Malaria at the Rural Health and Training Centre (RHTC), Chunchankuppe on the occasion of World Malaria Day, observed on 22nd May 2025.
The program was coordinated and conducted by Dr. Harsha Gowda, Assistant Professor and In-charge of RHTC Chunchankuppe, with the active participation and support of the interns posted at the center.
Dr. Shashikala Manjunatha, Professor and Head of the Department of Community Medicine, presided over the event. The program was a resounding success, with enthusiastic participation from the local community. The residents of Chunchankuppe benefited greatly from the awareness activities, which focused on malaria prevention, early detection, and treatment strategies. This initiative reaffirmed the department’s commitment to public health education and community outreach in line with national efforts to combat malaria.

Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) Workshop

Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) Workshop was conducted from 13/5/2025 to 15/05/2025. Each day it started at 9:00 AM and concluded at 5:00 PM.
A three-day workshop on the Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) was conducted at the Medical Education Unit Room, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Bengaluru. The workshop was organized by the Medical Education Unit of Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital and coordinated by the NMC Regional/Nodal Centre at St. John’s Medical College and Hospital, Bengaluru.
A total of 30 participants, divided into five groups, actively participated in the sessions over the course of the workshop. The sessions were facilitated by the Resource Faculty of the Medical Education Unit, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital. The sessions included a mix of interactive lectures, group activities, and discussions, which fostered active engagement and collaborative learning.
Dr. Soumya Umesh, from St. John’s Medical College and Hospital, attended as an observer and provided valuable feedback and suggestions throughout the workshop.
To maintain engagement and avoid monotony, small fun activities were conducted between sessions. An online pre-test was administered prior to the start of the workshop and a post-test was conducted at its conclusion to assess the effectiveness of the program and measure learning outcomes.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, marking the successful completion of the program.
