National Doctors Day in India has its origins way back in 1991 when the Indian government formally announced July 1st as Doctors Day. This is the day when Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned doctor and prominent personality in India’s medical and political affairs, was born and died. Dr. Roy played a pioneering role in establishing the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and medical colleges and hospitals in India.
RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital celebrated Doctors’ Day on 24th July 2025 at Kadamba Hall with great pride and enthusiasm. The event was honored by the presence of our Founder Chancellor, Dr. A.C. Shanmugham, and Chief Guest Dr. H.D. Ranganth, MLA of Kunigal Constituency.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by Dean Dr. Sathyamurthy, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Dr. A.C. Shanmugham delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the vital role of doctors in society and applauding their selfless service to humanity. Chief Guest Dr. H.D. Ranganth shared his heartfelt appreciation for the medical profession, drawing from his personal experiences and deep respect for healthcare workers.
A felicitation ceremony was held to honor the senior doctors for their exemplary service, along with special recognitions given to other dedicated doctors and students for their outstanding paper presentations.
The celebrations continued with vibrant cultural performances, showcasing the talents of our students and staff. The event concluded with an over-the-top lunch in honor of the doctors, celebrating their invaluable contribution to the community.
It was a day of pride, gratitude, and celebration — a true tribute to the heroes in white coats.

Since the discovery of insulin in 1922, no drug has been able to alter the course of Type 1 diabetes — until recently. Now the medication teplizumab delays onset of the condition by an average of two years — and sometimes by more than a decade, says Kevan Herold, MD, a principal investigator of the drug and an immunologist at Yale Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. That’s a significant development given that 30,000 U.S. patients are diagnosed with the autoimmune condition each year.
The Department of Anatomy at Rajarajeswari Medical College & Hospital organized an enriching guest lecture on “Brain Stem Anatomy & Its Clinical Relevance” on 21st June 2025. The session was graced by Dr. Rajkohila, Assistant Professor of Anatomy, Madurai Medical College, Tamil Nadu, who delivered a comprehensive and clinically oriented presentation on the brain stem.
The lecture covered detailed anatomical features and their implications in clinical practice, sparking interest among the undergraduate students. A brainstorming interactive session featuring multiple-choice questions added an engaging and participatory element to the lecture.
In addition to the academic session, 1st MBBS students (2024–25 batch) actively participated in two creative and research-based activities:
• Histology Rangoli Competition
• Research Project Proposal Competition
These competitions encouraged students to blend art with science and present innovative ideas. Winners were recognized and awarded during the event.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by high tea, providing a platform for informal interaction and academic networking. The event was a great success, fostering learning beyond the classroom and promoting a spirit of academic curiosity

The Department of Community Medicine at RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital (RRMCH), in collaboration with DHI students, interns, and the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Channasandra, successfully conducted a Health Education & Awareness Program on Vector-Borne Diseases on 12th June 2025.
The program began at 11:15 AM with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony and focused on educating the local community about mosquito-borne diseases such as Malaria, Dengue, and Chikungunya. Participants learned about symptoms, modes of transmission, prevention strategies, and treatment options.
Students and interns actively engaged the audience through interactive sessions, emphasizing the importance of personal protection, environmental sanitation, and community participation in mosquito control.

The day is observed on 29 June to popularise the use of Statistics in everyday life. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of Prof. P C Mahalanobis. RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm on 21st June 2025. The event, organized by the Cultural and Sports Committee, aimed to promote the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of students, staff, and faculty through the practice of yoga.
This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” emphasized the role of yoga in fostering harmony between human health and the health of the planet
The session was led by esteemed Yoga Instructor Mrs. Sushma Shankar from Bengaluru, in collaboration with DECATHLON, who guided participants through various asanas and breathing techniques. Her interactive and motivational approach helped participants connect deeply with the practice.
Over 220 participants took part in the session, demonstrating high energy, discipline, and interest in incorporating yoga into their daily routine.
To commemorate the occasion, awarded the ‘Yoga Sangam Patra’ – a certificate of recognition from the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
The celebration reinforced the importance of yoga in leading a balanced lifestyle and highlighted the college’s commitment to holistic health and wellness.
