Volleyball Runner RRMCH Women’s ZEAL – 2024

We are happy to share with all that the RRMCH Women’s Volleyball Team were the ‘Runners up’ of the tournament played against the Home Team that is BMS college for women . Second Parent – Teachers Meet of I MBBS, 2023-24 Batch

Date: 29/04/2024 Time: 11:00am to 1:00pm Venue: Kadamba Hall, RRMCH The II Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) for the 2023-24 batch of 1st MBBS students was conducted on Monday, April 29th, 2024, at Kadamba Hall, RRMCH. The meeting commenced at 9:30 am and concluded at 3:00 pm. Dr. Bharathi D, Professor, Department of Anatomy and Chairperson of the PTM committee, warmly welcomed all attendees. During the occasion, parents engaged in one-on-one sessions with the Head of Departments which included Dr. Shruthi B N (Anatomy), Dr. Jamuna B L (Physiology), and Dr. Bindu C M (Biochemistry), along with their respective mentors. These discussions encompassed various aspects such as academic performance in II Internal assessments, behavior,attendance, and suggestions for student improvement. To ensure comprehensive support, the Estate Officer and wardens from both boys’ and girls’ hostels were also present to address any concerns raised by the parents. A total of 48 parents participated in the PTM, and feedback forms were collected from all attendees upon its conclusion.

The Link Between Gut Health, Anxiety and Depression

Are we anxious or depressed because we are eating poorly?  A growing cluster of studies about the gut-brain axis is showing that something as common as anxiety can be alleviated by eating foods that promote healthy gut bacteria. Many studies now link specific microbiota to everything from depression to inflammation. It’s difficult to underestimate the importance of consuming a wide variety of nutritious foods that contain the full array of  microbiota we need to thrive . How do gut health and mental health work together?

KMC EREVNA – 2024

We are thrilled to congratulate our 3rd year MBBS students for their remarkable achievements at the National Undergraduate Medical Research conference, KMC Erevna 2024, hosted by the student’s research forum of Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. They have brought immense pride to our institution.
Ms. Disha Gururaj excelled, securing the top position in the poster presentation category. Mr. Siddhanth G L, Ms. Mitakshi Maity, Ms. Deesha Prasad were awarded certificates of recognition for their outstanding poster presentations. Additionally, we commend the participation of Mr. Sumit Adhikary and Mr. Adwiteeya R, whose contributions enriched the academic discourse of the conference. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all participants for their valuable contributions towards advancing medical knowledge and research.

Metagenomics: Deep diving into unknown pathogens/microbes

Date: 30-03-2024 Topic: Metagenomics: Deep diving into unknown pathogens & microbes Venue: Rajarajeswari Medical College and hospital. Audience: Clinicians, faculty and Postgraduates of 24 medical disciplines. Rajarajeswari Medical College and hospital is a 1200 bed tertiary care hospital that caters to low-income group patients from surrounding semi-rural areas and villages till Bidadi and Ramanagara. Three Clinical cases, 2 from patients with Sepsis, and 1 patient with Surgical Site infection were presented. The common factor with all the 3 cases were the isolation of MDR and PDR Klebsiella pneumoniaeby conventional culture techniques.   View Event Report

World Health Day Celebration and Tuberculosis Awareness program at UHTC, Channasandra – 2024

World Health Day 2024 Celebration and Tuberculosis Awareness Program was conducted by Department of Community Medicine on 2nd May at 11:30 am in Channasandra UHTC. The program was presided by Dr. Shashikala Manjunatha (Professor and HOD, Dept. of Community Medicine), Dr. A C Shyam (Professor), Dr Manasa A R (Assistant Professor) and Dr Padma (Medical Officer, UHTC, Channasandra). It was organized and coordinated by Dr Manasa AR, staff of UHTC, Channasandra and Mr. Pradeep, representative from Muttappa Attavar Trust/ Rotary International. This year’s theme for World Health Day was “My Health, My Right”. Dr. Shashikala Manjunatha (Professor and HOD, Dept. of Community Medicine) spoke about the importance of maintaining good health and educated the general public about the services offered at UHTC and its appropriate utilization. Health and Tuberculosis awareness talks were given by 3rd Year DHI students by use of pictures and charts. Around 50 beneficiaries attended the program. Refreshments &gifts for the beneficiaries were arranged by Rotary International team. Transport was arranged by RRMCH.The program concluded successfully by 12:30 pm.

Mobile Health Clinic Services – 2024

Event: Mobile Health Clinic Services Date: 24-04-2024 The Department of Pediatrics, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospitals in association with Indian academy of Pediatrics and Department of Preventive and Social medicine started a long awaited program of “Mobile health clinic services” for children between 0 to 15 years on 24 th April 2024, covering 25 villages in and around Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital with an intention of “Rajarajeswari aspatre ya nade halliya arogyada kade”. The team of doctors consisting of pediatricians under the leadership of Dr. Adarsh E treated the patients from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and addressed issues related to immunization, nutrition, diet counseling, developmental issues, disabilities and chronic diseases in the mobile clinic.Children requiring further care and management were referred to Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital where facilities like Pulmonology, Nutrition counseling (IYCF Clinic), Haemato-oncology, neurology and neuro- developmental clinic services and endocrinology services will be provided on minimal cost under the department of pediatrics.   View Event Report

Inauguration of “Mobile Clinic” and “Free Pediatric Health Checkup” at Chunchanakuppe

DEPT OF COMMUNITY MEDICINE – Inauguration of “Mobile Clinic” and “Free Pediatric Health Checkup” conducted on 24th April 2024, Chunchanakuppe A mobile health clinic was inaugurated in RHTC Chunchunkuppe on 24th April 2024 by Department of Pediatrics in association with Department of Community Medicine.The clinic is going to address five conditions i.e. Diseases,Nutritional Deficiencies, Developmental Delay,Disability and Vaccination among age group of 0-15years.The programme was presided by Dr Shashikala Pro and HOD,Dr Vidusha From Department of Community Medicine,Dr.Adarsh Prof HOD,Dr Sree Kirishna,Dr Sahana,Dr Arpita,Dr Surabhi from Department of Pediatrics. RHTC staff Mr Venkatesh,Mrs.Kamala,Mrs Swetha,Mr Shankar helped in arranging & Organising the program.A free health checkup was conducted for the children on this occasion at the centre.The program concluded successfully.   View Event Report
