Department of Anesthesia is observing the ” World Anesthesia Day”

About the Programme:
World Anesthesia Day commemorates the first successful demonstration of ether anesthesia on October 16, 1846. This ranks as one of the most significant events in the history of medicine and took place at the Massachusetts General Hospital, home of the Harvard School of Medicine. The discovery made it possible for patients to obtain the benefits of surgical treatment without the pain associated with an operation. The date (16 October) is now globally recognised as World Anaesthesia Day in respect of the importance of this event.
World anaesthesia day was celebrated on 11th Oct 2018 in the Kadamba auditorium.
Dr.Sahaananda Professor & Head of the Department, Anesthesia, Critical Care & Pain Medicine,RRMCH, Bengaluru rendered welcome speech. The guest speaker was Dr.Srivatsan ,Faculty scientist from IBAB, Bangalore. He was introduced to the audience.
Dr. Rangalakshmi spoke about the importance of World anaesthesia Day and the achievements in the field of Anaesthesiology.
Dr. Srivatsan delivered a lecture on Importance of “R” in statistical analysis of research projects and thesis. There was a general knowledge Quizz programme for the staff and students.
It was followed by cultural programme and prize distribution for the winners of the quizz.
Function concluded with cake cutting ceremony and refreshments.
