World Breast Feeding Week 2019

RRMCH, Department of Pediatrics celebrating the “World Breast Feeding Week” from 1st Aug to 7th Aug 2019.

Department of pediatrics observing world breast feeding week at RRMCH from August 1st-7th. Inauguration is on 1st of August in the department of pediatrics.

About the Programme:

August 1st to 7th is observed as world breast feeding week, every year to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world.
This year 2019 world breast feeding week slogan is “EMPOWER PARENTS, ENABLE BREAST FEEDING”. Focusing on supporting both parents to be empowered is vital in order to realize their breastfeeding goals.

Hence, in our hospital at RAJARAJESHWARI MEDICAL COLLEGE we celebrated breastfeeding week from 1st to 7th august. Each day we had events organized to protect, promote and support breastfeeding among mothers. We have been celebrating this breastfeeding week from past 13 years.

The programme started with inauguration on 1/8/19 by HOD of pediatrics Dr. Adarsh.E at pediatric OPD, in the presence of postnatal mothers in association with department of OBG and community medicine followed talk by Dr Adarsh and staff nurse Renuka on breast feeding on 2/8/19 we educated mothers at postnatal ward regarding advantages of breast feeding on 3/8/19 we had organized for collage by our interns and 8th term students at postnatal ward .on 5/8/19 we had sessions at pediatric ward for mothers regarding breast feeding. on 6/8/19 there was community visit at channasandra where we educated mothers of nearby area on 7/8/19 there was skit enactment from postgraduate students of department of pediatrics regarding importance of breastfeeding. Followed by prize distribution to quiz winners and collage winners by HOD of pediatrics Dr. Adarsh. E, Dr. Sathyamurthy. B, Dean and Dr. Usha Ramachandra, Director PG Studies.
