Yoga Training for Students (International Yoga Day 2022)

Department of Physiology, RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital has organised Yoga Training Program for Medical Students from 12th to 21st June 2022 for I, II, III and IV Year MBBS Students in respective batches.

This training program has been organised to commemorate International Yoga Day 2022 whose theme is Yoga for Humanity

Yoga – A holistic approach towards a healthy mind in a healthy body YOGA — A beautiful gift that India gave to humanity, which helps in balancing Mind, Body and Soul. To make the World aware of the benefits of yoga, our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated to celebrate International yoga day on 21st June every year, as it is the longest day of the year. 8th International yoga day was celebrated on 21st June 2022 with the theme “YOGA FOR HUMANITY” across the world. As world is still struggling to overcome the ill effects of the pandemic COVID -19, practicing yoga helps people to stay energetic and to boost immune system. Yoga training sessions of 1hr duration were conducted by trained yoga instructors for the well being of medical students from 12th June to 20th June 2022 at ACS Convention Center, Rajarajeswari medical college and hospital. The training sessions were co-ordinated by Department of Physiology. Around 500 students participated in the training sessions. Yoga Competition for MBBS students was organized by Department of Physiology, at college lobby from 9am to 10:30 am on 21st June 2022. Around 31 students participated enthusiastically. Competition had three rounds with sitting asanas, standing asanas and one asana of participant’s choice. Competition was judged by 3 yoga instructors. 3 Cash prizes were awarded for the winners by the chief guest during the yoga day celebration. Participation certificate were awarded for all the participants. Yoga competition was followed by International Yoga day celebration at Kadamba auditorium from 10:30 am onwards. Master of ceremony was Ms. Lavanya S. The program was started by invoking the blessings of almighty by a invocation song, sung by 1st year MBBS student Ms.Shreya followed by lighting of lamp by the dignitaries. A short video clip was played showing the glimpses of the 10days yoga training session. Following which our respected Dean Dr. Sathyamurthy delivered the welcome address. The guest of honor Dr. Praveen Angadi was introduced by Medical Superindent Dr. Praveen Kumar and chief guest Shri Prashanth Kumar was introduced by Joint Registrar of Academics Dr. Yogesh M K Felicitation was done for guest of honor, chief guest and yoga instructors. Dr. Praveen Angadi, Consultant & counselor for Life style diet and stress management, has shared his knowledge about the benefits of yoga in health and disease. Shri. Prashanth Kumar, advanced yoga trainer, enriched the gathering with three simple meditation techniques which can be used in day to day life. Students were asked to give feedback about the training session and Yoga day celebration. Online feedback was taken from all the students. The program was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Jamuna B L, Prof & HOD, Dept of Physiology. 8th International yoga day celebration was a grand success with overwhelming participation from all students and faculties.
