Free Eye Health Screening Camp and Spectacles Distribution at UHTC, Channasandra
A free eye health screening camp and spectacles distribution was organized at UHTC, Channasandra on 4th September 2025. It was jointly organized by Rotary Club of Bangalore, Rotary Mutthappa Attavar Trust, Department of Community Medicine, RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital in association with Udani Opticals & Rangalakshmi Nethralaya, Bangalore.
• The Programme started at 9:30 am with lamp lighting ceremony.
• Dr. Manasa A R, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine introduced the team and briefed about the services being offered at the camp.
• Mr. Ravi Kumar, Senior Rotarian from Rotary Club of Bangalore, addressed the gathering and guided them to effectively utilize the facilities offered at the camp.
• Eye specialists from Rangalakshmi Nethralaya screened the public for cataract, refractive errors, glaucoma and other eye ailments and advised prompt treatment and referral were required.
• Around 55 patients were diagnosed with refractive errors and advised for free spectacle distribution through Udani Opticals. 15 patients were diagnosed with cataract and advised for surgery.
• Representatives and co-ordinators from Rotary Club of Bangalore and Rotary Mutthappa Attavar Trust also attended the program.
• Beneficiaries included adults and elderly residents residing in and around Channasandra. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr Srividya V, Professor & HOD by Dr. Manasa A R (Assistant Professor cum I/C, Channasandra, Dept. of Community Medicine) and staff of Channasandra UHTC.
• The program concluded successfully by 1:30 pm followed by refreshments.
• A total of 121 beneficiaries participated in the program.
Refreshments and lunch were arranged by Rotary Mutthappa Attavar Trust.Transport and patient mobilization were arranged by RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital.
