Guest Lecture on “Artificial Intelligence in Dermatology”

The Department of Dermatology at RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital organized a Guest Lecture on “Artificial Intelligence in Dermatology” on 20th February 2026 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the college campus. The session aimed to provide insights into the rapidly evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern dermatological practice and research.

The lecture was delivered by renowned dermatologist D. S. Krupa Shankar, who presented a comprehensive overview of AI applications in dermatology. He elaborated on the integration of AI in routine clinical OPD practice, clinical decision support systems, tele dermatology services, and research advancements. The session emphasized how AI enhances diagnostic precision, streamlines workflow, and supports evidence-based practice, while underscoring the indispensable role of clinical judgment, ethical responsibility, and compassionate patient care.

A special focus was placed on the relevance of AI for postgraduate students, highlighting its utility in academic research, dissertation work, data interpretation, and scientific publications. The lecture provided valuable perspectives on how emerging technologies can be responsibly adopted in clinical and academic settings.

The program was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Priya, Professor and Head of the Department, along with the dedicated efforts of faculty members and postgraduate students. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty across various departments, postgraduate students, and interns, followed by an engaging interactive discussion.
