Book Exhibition 2025

The Department of Library and Information Centre, Rajarajeswari Medical College & Hospital, organized a vibrant Book Exhibition on 28th and 29th October 2025. The event aimed to create awareness among students and faculty about the latest editions and newly published titles in the field of medical and health sciences.

Renowned publishers and distributors participated in the exhibition, including:

• CBS Publishers and Distributors (P) Ltd., Bengaluru
• Sri Book World, Bengaluru

The exhibition showcased a wide collection of medical books and reference materials, offering an excellent opportunity for students and faculty to explore new academic resources and stay updated with recent developments in medical science and research.
Visitors appreciated the well-organized displays and the chance to interact directly with representatives from various publishing houses. The event successfully fostered a spirit of learning, reading, and intellectual curiosity among the medical community.
The Department of Library and Information Centre continues to encourage such initiatives that promote lifelong learning and academic growth.

About the Event:
The Research Day : AUREVIA 2025 marked the first ever research centric event organized by the Student Research Council of RRMCH. The event aimed to ignite scientific curiosity and cultivate a culture of research among undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The program served as a collaborative platform connecting students, faculty, and researchers encouraging innovation, critical thinking, and knowledge exchange in various fields of medical research.

Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgery Workshop at RRMCH

The Department of General Surgery, RRMCH in collaboration with Intuitive Surgical, successfully organized a Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgery Workshop on 16th and 17th October 2025 at RRMCH Campus.

The two-day program brought together faculty, residents, and undergraduate students from the Departments of General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT, Surgical Oncology, Gastroenterology, and Urology. The workshop offered an interactive learning platform to explore the cutting-edge features of the Da Vinci Xi surgical system and its applications across multiple surgical specialties.

Participants had the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the robotic system, deepening their understanding of robotic-assisted surgical techniques and the future of minimally invasive surgery. The session highlighted the growing role of technology in enhancing surgical precision, patient outcomes, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. R. Prema Represents RRMCH at National Adolescon 2025

We are proud to share that Dr. R. Prema, Professor of Pediatrics and In-charge of the Adolescent Clinic “YUVA CHETANA” at Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital, was invited as faculty at the prestigious National Adolescon – National Conference on Adolescent Health, held in Ahmedabad on 19th September 2025.

Dr. Prema conducted a workshop on Emotional Intelligence, which drew participation from over 70 delegates from across the country. The interactive session received excellent feedback, with participants appreciating the valuable insights and practical approaches shared during the workshop.

RRMCH congratulates Dr. R. Prema for her contribution towards promoting adolescent health and emotional well-being at the national level.

Geriatric Non-Communicable Diseaese Screening, Adolescent Health Screening And Counselling Programme At Uhtc, Channasandra

A non-communicable disease (Diabetes, Hypertension) screening among elderly, adolescent mental health screening cum counselling programme was organized at UHTC, Channasandra on 26th September 2025. This was organized as a part of “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan” which is being celebrated from 17th September to 2nd October 2025 with an aim of improving the health outcomes for women, adolescent girls and children across the country.
  • The Programme started at 11:00 am with lamp lighting ceremony.
  • Dr Srividya V, Professor and HOD, Department of Community Medicine addressed the audience and enlightened them about the common problems among elderly, warning signs to watch for and to seek professional help wherever necessary.
  • Dr Manasa A R, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine briefed the audience about common stressors among adolescents and facilities offered at RRMCH.
  • Free GRBS screening, BP monitoring and spectacle distribution was also done for elderly with refractive errors through Rotary International Organisation.
  • Dr A C Shyam, Professor, Department of Community Medicine also attended the programme.
  • Around 45 elderly and adolescents participated in the programme.
  • The event was organized under the guidance of Dr Srividya V, Professor & HOD by Dr. Manasa A R (Assistant Professor cum I/C, Channasandra, Dept. of Community Medicine) and staff of Channasandra UHTC.
  • The programme concluded successfully by 12:30 pm.
Transport was arranged by RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital.
Refreshments were arranged by Rotary International.

Maternal and Child Health Awareness & Screening Programme at UHTC, Channasandra As part of the nationwide “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan”, a Maternal and Child Health Screening, Awareness, and Immunisation Programme was successfully conducted at the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Channasandra on 25th September 2025.
The initiative, held under the Department of Community Medicine, aimed at empowering women and promoting better health practices among mothers and children. The event began with a lamp lighting ceremony, symbolising the light of knowledge and health.
Key Highlights:
  • Interns from UHTC engaged mothers through informative sessions on nutrition, immunisation, and the importance of regular health check-ups.
  • Dr. Manasa A R, Assistant Professor, addressed the audience on adopting beneficial socio-cultural health practices and ensuring timely immunisation for children.
  • The programme saw active participation from over 35 mothers and children, creating a meaningful impact at the community level.

MBBS Students Win Best Oral Presentation at International Conference

We are delighted to announce that Disha Gururaj Kulkarni and Khushi Vinod, final year MBBS students, have brought great pride to our institution by winning the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 6th World Congress on Infectious Disease and Antibiotics, held on 12th October 2025 at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.

Their research paper, titled “Usage of Antibiotics in the ICU of Tertiary Care Hospitals,” was selected as the best among over 50 presentations delivered by participants from various academic and professional levels — including undergraduate and postgraduate students, Ph.D. scholars, and practicing clinicians from across the country and abroad.

This achievement highlights not only their academic excellence but also their commitment to addressing critical healthcare challenges such as antibiotic stewardship in intensive care settings. Their work reflects the high standards of research and clinical awareness fostered at our institution.

We congratulate Disha and Khushi on this prestigious recognition and wish them continued success in their medical careers.

CME on Unicondylar Knee Replacement and SAW Bone Workshop

On the morning of 24th September 2025 the CME program began with a warm welcome to the dignitaries and guest speaker, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp and a soulful invocation prayer. Dr. Gopinath K. M., Professor and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the aim of the academic session and setting a purposeful tone for the day. The honorable guests, Dr. Subodh Shetty, President of the Bangalore Orthopedic Society; Dr. Narendra, a renowned Orthopedic Surgeon and KPSC member and Dr. Roshan Kumar, Medical Superintendent of SCMCHRI and General Secretary of OASIS, were felicitated. The Dean, Dr. B Sathyamurthy and Dr. Subodh Shetty, with their inspiring words, kick started the event.

The scientific proceedings opened with Dr. Suresh I, Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, who gave a clear and engaging overview of osteoarthritis of the knee. Dr. Roshan Kumar B. N., Professor and General Secretary of OASIS, then shared valuable insights on current management trends in medial compartment arthritis of the knee. This was followed by Dr. Sivaprasad K., Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, who explained the concept and surgical technique of high tibial osteotomy with great clarity.

Dr. Gopinath K M highlighted the achievements of the guest speaker Dr. Sai Krishna B. Naidu, Senior Consultant at Fortis Hospital who later delivered a thought-provoking talk on unicondylar knee replacement, exploring its indications and outcomes. A surgical video demonstration and an interactive Q&A session kept the audience engaged. The event concluded with a hands-on saw bone workshop on unicondylar knee replacement. Mementos were presented to all the speakers, followed by a sincere vote of thanks by Dr. Khalid Fiyaz, bringing the session to a lively and fulfilling close.
