The Department of Pediatrics, RRMCH, under the leadership of
Dr. Adarsh E., proudly announces the stellar performance of our final-year postgraduate students at the
12th Bengaluru PEDICON 2025, held on
14th–15th June 2025 at the
NIMHANS Convention Centre, Bengaluru. The event was hosted by the
Indian Academy of Pediatrics.
Among
20 competitive research papers, 5 were shortlisted for the prestigious Award Paper category, with 3 entries from our department alone. Our students presented
3 award papers, 3 free papers, and 1 poster at the conference.

This marks a
historic fourth consecutive year that RRMCH Pediatrics has secured awards in the Award Paper category – a
first in Bengaluru PEDICON-IAP history. This incredible feat reflects the academic and research excellence continuously fostered within our department in the fields of
Pediatrics and Neonatology. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our dedicated students and faculty for upholding our legacy of excellence.
The Department of Paediatrics at Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital successfully observed
Complementary Feeding Day on
June 9, 2025. The event aimed to educate parents and caregivers on the importance of timely and appropriate complementary feeding practices for infants.
During the program, interactive sessions were conducted to:
Highlight the benefits of
initiating complementary feeding at the right age.
Demonstrate
various methods of introducing complementary foods while continuing breastfeeding.
Emphasize
preventive strategies against malnutrition, tailored to the needs of growing children.
The initiative was coordinated by
Dr. Adarsh E, Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics, along with
Dr. Arpitha, Assistant Professor. Their guidance and expertise ensured the event was both informative and engaging.
The event benefitted a wide range of participants including:
Children admitted in pediatric wards
Outpatient Department (OPD) attendees
Mothers and infants in the Postnatal Care Ward
This awareness program served as an important step towards promoting better nutrition and health outcomes in children. The department remains committed to such community-focused initiatives that empower caregivers with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their child’s nutrition and well-being.
World Blood Donor Day is observed on 14 June every year to raise awareness about the urgency of blood donations all over the world and to acknowledge and appreciate blood donors for their support. This year’s slogan is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives”.
RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital has conducted Blood Donation camp in our Blood Bank, on the occasion of “World Blood Donors Day”. The theme for World Blood Donor Day 2025 is “Give blood, give hope: together we save lives.” This theme highlights the impact of blood donations in providing hope and saving lives, emphasizing the collective effort required from donors, healthcare systems, and communities to ensure a safe and sufficient blood supply, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The slogan “Give blood, give hope: together we save lives” aims to encourage more people to donate blood regularly and to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary, unpaid blood donation.
This day is launched by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to focus attention on the worldwide extinction of child labour, efforts and the action required to eliminate it. In 2015, world leaders adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in which they included a clause to end child labour.
It is observed every year on 8 June to raise international public attention to the people that are suffering from serious diseases and the urgent need for more research. Several events are organised around the world to educate about brain tumours.
World Food Safety Day is celebrated on 7 June to draw global attention to the consequences of contaminated food and water to health. Also, this day focuses on the way to reduce the risk of food poisoning. The safety of food is key to achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
World Environment Day is observed every year on 5 June and is celebrated by more than 100 countries. The environment is a major issue, which not only affects the well-being of the people but also hampers economic development throughout the world. The theme of World Environment Day 2021 is “Ecosystem Restoration”.

CME on Sialendoscopy at RRMCH
The Department of ENT & HNS at RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital successfully conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on Sialendoscopy on 29th May 2025.
The event featured expert guest speakers Dr. Sreenivas Murthy and Dr. Prithvi S. Bachalli, who shared valuable insights into the evolving techniques of sialendoscopy — a minimally invasive, gland-preserving procedure used in the management of obstructive salivary gland disorders.
Dr. Sreenivas Murthy delivered an in-depth talk covering indications, contraindications, procedural techniques, and clinical challenges, followed by Dr. Prithvi S. Bachalli who presented thought-provoking case discussions and real-world management strategies.
A live surgical demonstration of Sialendoscopy was conducted and streamed to the ENT Demo Room, offering an exceptional learning experience for postgraduates and interns.
The CME was graced by Dr. T.M. Nagaraj, Professor & HOD of ENT-HNS, and attended by faculty, residents, and medical interns.
This knowledge-rich session highlighted the advancements, safety, and patient-centered benefits of sialendoscopy and reaffirmed our commitment to academic excellence and clinical innovation.
