Department of Anaesthesia, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital conducted the Pre conference workshop on Inhaled Anaesthesia Delivery Systems in association with
ISACON KARNATAKA on
8th August 2024. 113 delegates from Karnataka and neighbouring states attended the conference.
In the morning we had scientific sessions by esteemed faculty who are experts in this field such as Dr. Ramkumar Venkateswaran from KMC Manipal, Dr. CL Gurudutt from JSS Mysore, Dr. Pankaj Kundra from JIPMER Pondicherry and Dr. Rajesh Joseph from Indra Gandhi Medical College, Pondicherry.
In the post lunch session we had hands on workshop in our Skill Lab, where simulation scenarios were conducted by Dr. Ashwini H and Dr.Anagha MV in co-ordination with Dr. Ramkumar Venkateswaran and other faculties. Highlights of this session were the simulation on various clinical scenarios, in which student groups participated enthusiastically.
Followed by this the delegates who were divided into 4 groups were rotated among the 4 stations. All the delegates had stations with our experts where they had hands on experience on the machines.
- Station 1 included Pre-use check protocol and Safety features in anaesthesia machine by Dr. Ramkumar Venkateswaran assisted by Dr.Sowmya Jois
- Station 2 included Special features of Newer Workstations and Trouble shooting by Dr. Rajesh Joseph and Dr. Madumala H R
- Station 3 included Boyle’s Machine by Dr. Pankaj Kundra and Dr. Shankar K
- Station 4 included Breathing circuits by Dr. C L Gurudutt and Dr. Shankar K
ll the delegates highly appreciated the sessions and feedback given was excellent in organization infrastructure and scientific content. Latest workstations from top companies from all over the world were used for demonstration. Workshop ended with the resolve to conduct similar workshop once in 2 years.

09/08/2024 held at a District level – ‘AIDS prevention control unit’ – Bangalore urban district and BBMP, They conducted the E-Quiz completion as a part of “International Youth day-2024” and Intensified IEC campaign for prevention of HIV. Mr. Uday Kumar Reddy, second year MBBS student won 3rd prize and Dr. Sardhar Kalifa S. 1st year PG Department of Microbiology won Consolation prize.

Day 7 activity on the occasion of World breastfeeding week. Celebration started with flash mob at hospital waiting lobby followed by awareness talk by Dr Adarsh, Professor and head of Pediatrics regarding breastfeeding and its importance to the crowd and followed by skit and Mime by nursing students. Prizes were given to all the winners of various competitions and the program was concluded with vote of thanks
Day 5 activity on
August 6th there was cooking competition theme focused on mothers’ healthy lactating diet. This was done to remove the myths regarding mothers’ healthy lactating diet and was explained to the mothers who participated by the postgraduate students and nursing students.
Day 6 activity of World breastfeeding week (
7th August) This was initiated to educate mothers in postnatal ward about breastfeeding with display of posters done by undergraduate, postgraduate students. A speech was given by Dr. Adarsh E , Professor and Head, Department of Pediatrics, Dr Arpitha B , Assistant Professor , Thayimuddama (NICU sister) and by vani (counselor).
On the occasion of Breast-feeding week, day 3 (August 3) activity was essay writing competition among postgraduate students based on the theme
“closing the gap”. About
20 students participated in the competition and was judged by Dr Venkatesh , neonatologist .
The winners were Dr Yusuf and Dr Ajith have secured the first prize. This program was held to assess the awareness among the students.
