Pharmacology – Quiz Competition

The Department of Pharmacology conducted its first quiz for MBBS students of Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital. There was a total of 3 round. The first round was conducted on 23rd June, 2018 and the second on 30th June, 2018. The final quiz round was held on 21st July, 2018.
The first and second rounds were conducted for the purpose of elimination and consisted of 50 multiple choice questions taken from various topics in pharmacology. The top 18 scorers were chosen to participate in the final quiz round after the second MCQ test round.
For the final quiz, the 18 finalists were randomly divided into 6 teams of 3 individuals and competed in a total of seven rounds of the following topics:
Round 1: Drug Acting at the Given Site
Round 2: Scientists & their Contributions to Pharmacology
Round 3: Adverse Drug Reactions
Round 4: Special Drug Delivery Systems
Round 5: Medicinal Plants
Round 6: Rapid Fire Questions
Round 7: Clinical Cases
Appropriate marks were awarded for correct answers. Elimination of one team was done after round 3 and another after round 5. A Winner, First Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up were named after the end of all 7 rounds. Prizes in the form of trophies, certificates and 3rd year textbooks (sponsored by Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P)Ltd) were awarded to the respective teams and high tea was provided for all the students and faculty members.
The winners of the quiz were Team C including Manasa Krishnan, Riya Naiya and R. Rakshana. The first runner up was team A including Abhijna Chandar, Akshatha A and U. Kausikaa. The second runner up was Team B including Divya R. Kumar, Harshitha S. and Ujwal R.
