Training Program and CME on Automated Blood Culture System
Training Program on Automated Blood Culture System was conducted by Department of Microbiology and Beckton Dickson company on 10/06/2016 at College Auditorium, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital. The first session was held on phlebotomy for the Staff nurses. The session was started with an introduction of the speaker Mr. Raiju Thomas by Dr. Sunil Kumar D Chavan. Around 100 staff nurses of RRMC&H attended the session.
It was an interactive session between the staff nurses and the speaker. Proper phlebotomy techniques and the procedures to be followed while collecting the blood was discussed in this session. The session lasted for 45 minutes.
The second session was a CME held on automated blood culture systems. Dr. Prakash. R welcomed the audience and introduced the speaker. Around 75 Doctors attended this session. In this session the mechanism, procedure and advantages of automated blood culture systems were discussed. This session lasted for half an hour. The session was concluded by presenting memento to the speaker by our Dean and vote of thanks by Dr. Sangeetha. S, HOD, Microbiology.
This training was an effort to strengthen the knowledge of staff nurses in phlebotomy procedures and therefore improving the positivity of the blood culture by automation. Awareness among doctors regarding automation the myths and debunking them was also achieved.
