Trauma Evaluation & Management (TEAM) Course

A TEAM Course was conducted at Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH) on 16/05/2026 from 8.30 am to 6.00 Pm in Medical education unit(MEU).

RRMCH in Association With: IIEMS, Kottayam

The Team course is being conducted first time in Karnataka & 3rd in INDIA. The TEAM Course is developed by American College of surgeons. It emphasizes healthcare workers, medical students, Interns and Medical professionals on fundamental principles of evaluating and stabilizing trauma patients. The program serves as a foundational stepping stone towards advanced trauma training like ATLS.

Outline of TEAM Course:
• Primary Survey & resuscitation – xABCDE’s
o X-Identification & Management of Exsanguinating External Hemorrhage.
o A-Airway
o B-Breathing
o C-Circulation
o D-Disability
o E-Exposure/Environment control

• Secondary survey
• Thermal injuries
• Transfer to definitive care
• Disaster management
• Triage & management

Training Details:
• The sessions were led by ATLS-certified instructors from various locations, who provided hands-on training and theoretical insights as per the latest guidelines by the American College Surgeons for ATLS.
• Each session concluded with both a theory and practical examination, and successful participants received certificates.
• The highlight of the session was the scenario based discussion, hands on training, evaluation and management of simulated patients.
