Workshop on Immunohistochemistry Antigen to Answer
The Department of Pathology, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH), Bengaluru, in collaboration with PathnSitu Biotechnologies Pvt. Ltd., successfully conducted one-day hands-on workshop titled “Antigen to Answer” on 10th July 2026 from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM in the Department of Pathology with the objective of enhancing practical knowledge and technical skills in Immunohistochemistry (IHC) among postgraduate students and faculty members.
The programme commenced with registration followed by the inaugural session. The academic sessions began with an introduction to the fundamentals of IHC and its indispensable role in modern diagnostic pathology by Mr. S. K. Doss, Director and Faculty, PathnSitu Biotechnologies Pvt. Ltd. Participants were subsequently introduced to the pre-analytical aspects of IHC, including tissue deparaffinization, hydration, and antigen retrieval, emphasizing the importance of each step in ensuring optimal staining quality.
The highlight of the workshop was the hands-on demonstration, where participants gained practical exposure to the complete IHC staining protocol under the guidance of the PathnSitu technical team. The session provided valuable experience in reagent handling, staining techniques, quality control measures, and interpretation of staining results along with interactive session on troubleshooting common technical issues encountered during IHC procedures and practical challenges.
Overall, the workshop was highly informative and enriched participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise, reinforcing the significance of Immunohistochemistry as an indispensable tool in diagnostic and research pathology.
