World Antimicrobial Awareness Week

The Department of Microbiology in coordination with the Department of Medicine and the Department of TBCD is conducting an awareness program on ………. Title : WORLD ANTIMICROBIAL AWARENESS WEEK Date : 19th November 2022, Saturday Time : 11:00 am to 12:30 pm Venue : Kadamba Hall (College Auditorium) ALL ARE CORDIALLY INVITED World antimicrobial awareness week was celebrated 2022 under the theme “Preventing the antimicrobial resistance together” by Department of Microbiology Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospitals on November 18th 2022. World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) is a global campaign that is celebrated annually from 18th to 24th November to improve awareness and understanding of AMR and encourage best practices among the public, Health care workers and policymakers, who all play a critical role in reducing the further emergence and spread of AMR.This year, it was held on November 18th. Slogan competition was conducted for all the faculty, post graduates and nursing staff using google form on 17/11/22. Overwhelming response was obtained from all the sectors, winners was announced at the end of the event. After a brief introduction about WAAW by Dr Archana B R, scientific sessions were conducted. Dr Hemanth Kumar SR gave lecture on Antimicrobial stewardship: making a right choice of antibiotic. He spoke about various strategies on implementation of antimicrobial stewardship and implementation of antimicrobial stewardship. Then crossword activity was conducted by Dr Archana B R to create antimicrobial awareness and to assess knowledge on antimicrobials for all the audience. After the activity answers were discussed. Winners were announced at the end of the session.Then Dr Parinita S discussed on Approach to drug resistant Tuberculosis. Various methods of development of drug resistance & treatment of drug resistant tuberculosis was discussed Winners of the slogan competition & cross word activity given certificates and appreciated. Winners of Cross word activity 1st place : Dr Thushar, Post Graduate 2nd place : Dr Bharath R Kumar.Post Graduate 3rd place : Dr Ishitha Thripati.
