The Department of Anatomy, Rajarajeswari Medical College & Hospital successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled “Beyond the Textbook: How Anatomy Dictates Clinical Decision and Surgical Precision” on 22nd June 2026.
The CME, conducted in collaboration with the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, and Anaesthesiology, was designed to help First MBBS students (2025–26 batch) appreciate the vital role of anatomy in clinical practice and surgical decision-making.
The programme commenced with an invocation by Ms. Diya Sanoop, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The inaugural function was presided over by Dr. Sathyamurthy B., Dean, in the presence of Dr. Basavaraj Bhandare, Principal, Dr. Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. & Head, Department of Anatomy, Dr. Mangala S.
The academic sessions featured expert faculty from the four collaborating clinical departments, who shared practical insights into the application of anatomical knowledge in patient care through engaging, case-based discussions. The interactive sessions highlighted the relevance of anatomy beyond textbooks, enabling students to connect basic science concepts with real-world clinical scenarios.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Bharathi. Students also submitted their feedback through Google Forms, reflecting the positive impact of the CME. Certificates and prizes were distributed to academic toppers and winners of various events organized by the Department of Anatomy, making the occasion a memorable and enriching experience for all participants.
The CME was a resounding success, reinforcing the importance of integrating basic medical sciences with clinical practice and inspiring students to appreciate the indispensable role of anatomy in medicine.
