Mosquitoes, those tiny blood-sucking insects, are responsible for transmitting serious diseases such as Malaria. World Mosquito Day honors the date when Sir Ronald Ross, a British army surgeon working in India, proved that mosquitoes transmit Malaria. This discovery revolutionized our knowledge of the disease and led to new preventive measures. Ross won the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1902. Ross declared the first World Mosquito Day then and there, stating that the world must be made aware of the link between mosquitoes and malaria. On the occasion of World Mosquito Day on 20th August 2022, Department of Microbiology had organized “Mind Fest” program on 3rd September 2022 from 9 to 10.30am in 2nd floor Lecture hall, RRMCH. The program was started with Introduction speech by Dr.Lakshminarayana S A, Prof and HOD of Microbiology. Then the organizing secretary Dr.Yashaswini M K formed the teams and conducted the program. Team A: A C Naveena, Anvitha R and G Meenal Bohra Team B: Prajna Nair, K U Lakshmi and Kalyani N D Team C: Druvadeep, Hongirana T A and Yashika P K Total of 4 rounds was done. Round 1: Dumb charades Round 2: Pictionary Round 3: Guess the word Round 4: Q and A During the program, audiences were also given chance. Participated students were given chocolates and appreciated. Finally the winners were announced. Winner -Team A: A C Naveena, Anvitha R and G Meenal Bohra 1st runner up – Team B: Prajna Nair, K U Lakshmi and Kalyani N D 2nd runner up – Team C: Druvadeep, Hongirana T A and Yashika P K The prizes and certificates were awarded by Dr. Jamuna L, Prof. & HOD of Physiology, Dr Priyanka, Professorof Physiology and Dr. Yogesh,Professor of Physiology department. The students were appreciated fortheir enthusiastic participation and feedback was taken.
